When Bryce posted all his find for year 2008 i was in AWE!!! as well as many others,, The man really really knows how to use his Explorer
He talked really highly of the SEF coil, and the success it brought him... After seeing all the pics of his finds i had to have one!!!! Knowing in reality that having that coil wasn't going to put the coins right out in front of me "but i could hope" lol ,,, i would have to do my part, which was go slow and listen... Well to today i found my first Seated Dime
1887s ,, It is cold in Indiana,,, with about 3 inches of snow on the ground
But that wasn't going to stop me,,, I grabbed the SE along with the brick hammer and headed to the woods at a local park... After hunting for 2 1/2 hours and not finding a single coin,,, just pop tops... i headed to another area,, and was working up a small slope.. There was a lot of iron in the ground,, up in front of me was a old hollow tree stump that was HUGE!!!!! i started working around the side of it "fighting through the null" when i came around to the back end,,, the Explorer rang a sweet sound, showing about 8-9 inches,,, After scraping 5 inches of leaves off the ground i dug down about another four inches and saw SILVER
i got excited threw off my mitten's and was STOKED to see the SEATED LADY on the front
I have only been detecting for around a year, so this made me pretty happy!!! The 1887s in my second piece of silver for the year,,, I cant wait to see what the rest of 2009 bring for me,, as well as every one else,, I really like the SEF coil,,, It has a little more weight than the pro coil,,, especially when the snow builds up on it,,, but it separates really good... Thanks Bryce for sharing all your finds and the info about them!!!! Thanks for looking and good luck everyone!!!!

I couldn't believe how shallow it was,,, i came back up the bank and around the roots of the tree and got a deep nickel signal... I kicked the leaves back and pulled this 1902 V Nickel around 9 inches deep... The sound was nice and crisp... There was NO mistaking it!!! hunted about another hour and pulled the final coin of the night , a 1935 wheatie... YAY
lol The SEF coil is still pushing out the goodies today,, I had some sweet pics of the coins strait out of the ground with my camera phone " like i had with the seated,,, But for some reason it's not wanting to send them to my email :veryangry: if it finally does ill post them... Thanks for looking Guys and Gals
Good luck if you get out and do some hunting!!!!!!!!!!!!!
