Well I did it... I ordered one of those original 1853 Infield 3 band muskets from a distributor....

my order was recieved and will be shipped today.

They also said don't worry about the problem with their online tracker. It many times dosen't work right.

They sound like a 1st class company on the phone.

Man. I'm still so excited I can hardly stand it:clapping:

I also ordered one of these guns.

I'm thinking about cleaning the wood with pumice/rottenstone and veg oil to get a nice finish, then a thin coating of Renassiance wax.

I may need to use denatured alcohol first, to cut through the grease. The metal will be cleaned with WD40 and 0000 steel wool. I am interested to see what you use Vern, and any advice as you go through the procedure.

This will be fun...I hope :)
