Well I ordered the 6 inch DD Excellerator Coil.

I originally had the black stock 10 1/2 inch coil on my Explorer ll.Following a suggestion from Bryce I switched to the 1050 coil which I haven't used in the field yet.The big K has a sale on the 6 inch DD coil so I just ordered one.I did use the 11 inch Pro Coil this fall but didn't get the depth I got with the stock 10.5 coil. The balance and weight on the Pro Coil was better and it did separate targets and pinpoint well, but with stock coil for me worked better.I even had a 10X5 Joey coil and didn't really like that coil either. My strategy with search coils since I'm on a budget the 1050 and 6inch Excellarator for this coming season.

I just got the 6" coil today..pretty cool looking!.......Man I love the pro coil.......It seems like it gets killer depth..and I am in california? It as great separation to!
I just have to get the pro coil off ...so I can try the 6"coil!. I have a explorer se...and a E-TRAC still in the box ...having to much fun with the se!!!!!
O yeah ...I don't like it in the tall grass...but besides that it is GREAT!!!

Mascard 1,I know a lot of hunters like the 11 inch coil, but for me the stock 10.5 Minelab coil preformed better depth wise for me The balance was so much better on the Pro coil, but in my ground it didn't have the depth of the 10.5 coil.I'm looking forward to using the 1050 and 6 inch coil.

I got a great deal 50 dollars for a 10.5 Slimline Explorer coil. I used the early stock coil and the newer one every other hunt last fall.I thought the older coil had better performance. The 1050 coil is said to be even a better coil but I haven't used it yet.I got my 1050 coil from a purchased on a Quattro off of Ebay at a good price and switched the Slimline coil on the Quattro for a resale.Heck the Slimline looked better and even made a couple bucks off the resale.

to sniff out deep silver and injuns hidin' in the trash. It will amaze you if you put the time on it. The first time I popped out an 8" deep silver dime with a pulltab on top...and a nail off to the side....I was hooked. That combo of the 1050 coil and the 6" Excelerator found me a ton of good stuff in 07...and half of 08.
About the last 4 months of 08 is when I found out how good the 10 x 12 SEF coil worked for me. I did a ton of infield comparisons over undug targets using the new pro coil and the new 10 x 12 SEF coil. My eyes were opened...and now my lethal combo is the 10 x 12 SEF coil and the 6" Excelerator.
How much did I like that 1050 coil before I found out how good the SEF coil worked for me?...well....I bought a 2nd one just in case something happened to the first one:thumbup:
You've got a nice, deep coin killing combo there my friend. Good luck in 09.

Ron, Bryce mentioned to me to get a Excelerator 6", this summer. The coil is a hot one... I was able to run the sens very high and dead accurate pinpointing. JW at Kellyco gave me a great price and I really enjoy the coil...when I can use it! Been cold, frozen everything else here since early/mid December. Lost around twenty days of detecting... Well have fun :detecting: and don't fall off that horse!
