Well I'm about to satiate my utter frustration trying to find out something about my silver Sacagawea dollars..

Sent them off to a coin expert yesterday. Going to cost me $25 bucks for his fee but will be worth it to solve this mystery that no one else has an answer for. Hell I may even stump this guy. I've stumped everybody else and stumped the biggest coin dealer in the U. S. who didn't have the remotest clue. If no one in the coin collecting community ( even the top dog ) knows about them or have ever seen one then they must be rare - I'm hoping. I sent the expert one version of that coin that will blow his mind., but more on that later. I've never found a coin that is a complete mystery to everyone including the experts. Perhaps I'm onto something. Will keep all ya posted.

You probably missed some of my earlier posts. I've recovered several 2000 P & D Sacagawea dollars that are a gleaming silver - not the normal gold color they came with from the Mint and there were no special issues minted in 2000.

Nah bud, mine are 2000 P & D. They didn't make any silver ones back then nor were there any special issues. That's why it stumps all the experts so far.

I'm thinking that someone had them flash plated after the mint. Don't know why you would be finding them only in your area and no one else find's them if that's what happened. Of course with the amount of time you've had detecting you could find the proverbial "needle in a haystack."

The big coin dealer in California that I contacted said there were quite a few plated ones floating around out there that were plated after they left the Mint but I don't understand why I've found so many in one general area.. A dealer has some on Ebay for $150 called "silver enhanced" a fancy name for plated. Hope this coin expert I sent a couple to has an answer.
