Well, I'm in Virginia Beach..................................

staying at Sandbridge Beach, Gonna try some beach hunting. Never have beach hunted before, should be an enjoyable experience. Don't know how the GTI 2500 and Ace 250 will do on the beach but I aim to find out.(Also brought along the old ADS III just in case I do any relic hunting It should be a lot different than huntin the KY hill country. Any tips from anyone on the forum will be appreciated. Will be here for a week (A long over due Vacation)
God Bless

I used the ACE 250 on the beach last time I beach hunted and found that 925 silver post ear ring (still haven't gotten to the jeweler to check the stone to see if it is a diamond or CZ). Just set it for jewelry and go. You can jack up the sensitivity to almost max to get more range with the sides of the coil on your swings but to pinpoint you should probably back it down some. The longer coil would be nice if ya had it to cover even more area faster.

Sherry was surprised how much area I had covered in the time we were there to detect. (I had the stock coil on it - don't have the bigger coil for it). Good luck on the beach hunting.

Don't know much about those detectors. If the mineralization from salt water doesn't bother them I would start about 1hr before low tide time and work the wet sand as close to the waters edge as I could get. Lower areas where more sand has been removed deserve a good workout. Good luck.

Hit the blanket areas early in the morning! Bring home some goodies! :)

TT,

I agree with the blanket are for fresh finds and low tide for things swimmers have lost. Often the goodies sink with water until they hit a hard pan (shells). Look for some type of cut caused by the waves where you can get deeper then normal. If you can get to the hard pan, goodies will be gathered there. I'm sure you know this but make sure your coil is on the ground. I was amazed last time I was at the beach how many coils were swung 4 inches off the ground.

Good luck.
