Got a 1918 Merc this afternoon in a little 2 hr hunt after lunch! It was @4"deep in a sports field, and I think sideways, I had a heck of a time stabbing it, it gave a sweet tone and id of 73 which at that depth is usually a dime. Also got a 40 wheat and this 63 Canadian nickel, they sure do give off an unusual signal that jumps from Q to D and could easily be passed over as a bottlecap. I actually had to dig TWO holes today to go after a few Q's that were beyond the reach of my 6" screwdriver, and they were the newer State Q's if you can believe that! A merc at 4", and 20yards away those Q's at 7? I changed my settings to 65 sens, and -2 thresh which worked good on these deeper targets, but is not that good on the shallow stuff or in the trash..learning more each day and getting inspired from all the wonderful posts and finds you guys are making! Especially wanted an old silver to try to keep up with Jake! I can see why you silver boys get a kick out of hunting the oldies...its sort of fun!

OH, now I'm gettin' called out, eh? :look: lol

Nice day out there, Mud! I still have to figure out that technique with the screwdriver, but not sure I want to be doing that on my old silvers. lol If you're up for it this summer, I could drive my happy ass over there and hunt with you for a day, then you could teach me that stabbing technique.

HH buddy!

Pony!

Nice silver mudpuppy ! Yea sometimes the depth of some coins do not make sense when you find a 200 year old coin an inch down and a 30 year coin coin down like six to seven inches. Well keep the the finds coming Good luck Ezra.

No matter how good a day you may be having popping out the clad, let one silver dime show up and it eclipses everything else!
