went back to the beach

after work the other night, and I hit the landslide area again where the boardwalk used to be from Superstorm Sandy and found a bent coin/medallion that I think is foreign copper. Through the loop,the date looks to be either 1890 or 1900. It kind of looks to me like the commie Khruschev (facing left, of course ,but it's well before his time. No further details on the back,so it's soaking in olive oil but I may run through electrolysis or hot peroxide to gleen further info about it. Hunt also produced a '46 Rosey, a '46 Jefferson and a lion with copper ring. Stats: auto-sens, low density,all-metal mode and a sloooow swing. Thanks for looking.

BTW, kudos to Goldstrike for the re-sizing of pictures suggestion, sure beats IrfanView and PictureViewer !

Ken, Glad to see you are trying the beach again. Seems like there has to be gold there somewhere. I think most people are getting smart and leaving their good jewelry home when they go to the beach these days. I found much, much more gold in the parks than at the beach and after 4 summers I quit the beach. Dave

Thanks Dave. I dont' even walk down to the dry or wet sand. I missed that boat and the great finds you and other longtime md'ers picked up before I started really enjoying md'ing in the late '90s. Very few visitors wear jewelry like that anymore (I see the crowds every weekend). Been concentrating on the landside fill dirt which was brought in to cover the original seawall and become the foundation for the most recently destroyed boardwalk,which older locals say was built around 1960 and seems to have older relics embedded from wherever this dirt originated from along with old clad coins.
Rusty- hope you get out soon. Yes, we've hit this area before and were successful, per our posts last Dec., but with each heavy rain eroding more landslide,it enables us to scan deeper into the remaining landslide.

Hey, I recognize the lions head with ring. My great Grandmother had an old steamer chest with those on it they are a strap latch componant on some old traveling chests for clothing and stuff. Brought back some very fond mems...
