Went back to the hunted out farm...

well went back to the farm I had to beg and plead to hunt because the owner said it was hunted to death and I would not find a thing......well first trip I used my x70 and did not get a single coin. Last week I went back with etrac and got a 1919 wheat and a 1917 merc.

Figured I'd try again today, first target was the soap token and man that baby was a good 9" deep. That explains why the other guy did not get it.:clapping:

Then got the silver looking pin, I have no clue what it is? any ideas?? I am digging every single signal here just hoping to get stuff the other guy passed up. Got 3 wheats, 1910, 1918, 1929, a pocket knife, button that says excelsior brand,,,,and finally my first buffalo of the season!

This year I have dug a war nickel, V nickel, shield nickel, but no buffalo nickels. I couldn't find one to save my life. And I am digging a ton of nickel signals! I am pretty sure it is a 1919

Now that's impressive. WTG!

Thanks Goes. How much trash did you have to dig? Any idea what kind of detector the other guy was using?

I'm not too sure but the little pin could be a fancy "little smokie" hotdog stabber...just goes to show you how much we have gotten away from the quality items nowadays (plastic/wood toothpicks and plastic tokens)

Neat finds!!! That pocket knife looks super old. Congratulations on the Buff.!!!!

guys on t-net ID'd the pin as a 1920's era ladies hat pin. As far as trash there is not much left on this farm. Whoever was there before me must have dug everthing BUT iron, he did a pretty good job. I have no idea what kind of detector he had, but I assume it did not get the depth the etrac does because everything I have found has been fairly deep, or right beside iron. Like I mentioned above I did not even find a single coin with my X-70, and it is a good machine. The etrac has really proved itself here no doubt! The buffalo was a nice clear and solid 10-10 signal, it was an easy 7" deep, so he either could NOT pick it up, or he skipped the signal thinking it was trash. There was not a single piece of iron by it.

Wow! 10-10. Suppose it was on edge? Those are usually 22. shorts or longs for me one way, makes me wonder and gives me hope. Another way they usually go down to 06 or 08 on the Conduct. number. Surely there has to be some more...don't know about the size of your area.

yeah it is not a very big yard, I have hit the front and sides pretty hard and SLOW overlapping swings big time. I will go back again though....

nickel was not on edge, I saw it lodged in the mud at bottom of hole. But I did have +3 on, running in auto. which took me to a sens of 29, seems to make numbers a bit jumpy on deep coins. the number was a bit jumpy, so I opened quick mask and it read a solid 10-10 from 2 directions
