Went cladstabbing today and got a little silver!

Yesterday I took the F70 lower rod off, and put on a much longer lower rod I had around here off a CZ20. Then I wrapped the grip rod with an Ace bandage I found, one of those new self adhesive types..I made it wider at the top so it fits my hand really good. So today I was feeling like a clad stab. my normal totlots were swept clean, but with the long rod I fished around under neath the equipment and got a little...then I started to sweep some sports fields, and by gosh, the extra length lower rod really lets a fellow sling a wide swath! So there I was swinging along at 52 sens, -3 thresh, and I got that "Quarter Ping" tight but faint, so I knew it was deep, I jacked the sens up to 75 and it was clear, hit the PP button and it said 6" deep...my screwdriver was buried to the hilt when I felt something, like Q on edge, so I tucked the Fpoint down in the hole and it squealed.
I took my time and slowly worked the target with just the screwdriver up enough so I could get a finger on it, and out comes this 4gr sterling ring! 81 coins and a token for 10.55...I like the longer lower rod for really speed sweeping large areas.like along the inside of the running track, a guy can make just one big pass and not have to turn around and go back...

Hey Nice find my friend. Take it when you can get I always say LOL ..Sometimes you just get a nice surprise.
How many time had you hunted that spot before Mudpuppy ??

Thanks Elton...This particular spot where the ring was was on an old football field...I found a barber dime there once at the BB fields just on the other side, very big school complex that has given up a ton of clad over the years, one gold ring and one gold medallion and a few silver rings.....the ring was at the 30 yard line, on the Hometeam side, right where the cheerleaders set up and jump around, and thats an area I focus up on silver and gold ring/chain signals, ...Its a mans ring, and it fits, so I will wear it as my 30th anniv ring if anybody asks...I SHOULD have had a coil over it before since I hunt this field when I get a chance, probably been there 20 times, i think I've cleaned out all the hotspots and am just sniping stragglers, ... I usually just freestyle and dont really work a grid, but I generally DO cover the areas where the cheerleaders set up on both sides pretty good, the endzones, (especially under the goalposts because we have all seen kids climb up on them) and along the track...it was a nice cool, overcast and drizzly day, perfect detecting weather.

Nice stabbing and a silver of any kind always makes for a good hunt. Good job finding it and spot focus. I've been sidelined this weekend with the oldest grandson taking the marriage step and out of town company. Hunting buddy called and we will be at it in the morning. Once again, good job. HH jim tn

Nice going on silver ring and coins.:thumbup:That's a lot of digging. Stabbing looks like it's the way to go for modern coin shooting.

Mud that is some fine cladstabbing. Nice find. With that long rod and that 11" coil out on the end, it must be kind of heavy? Now don't tell me you found an Ace bandage out there in the field? Are you detecting in the back of the drug store again? Remember don't take any of those old medications you find in the dumpster. Enjoyed post again thanks Mud. Happy Trails....Z

Way to go on the silver mud B-) hi rick in mi

Excellent search and great idea, Mud, with the long sweep. I found my grip relaxing after an hour or so and the thing seems to wobble a bit in my hand, then my shoulder get tired, and blah, blah, blah, so I was thinking (usually not a good thing for me), I was thinking, I was a sling with a single pinch clasp on the bottom holding a big camera and thought, why couldn't that be adapted to the MD some how to take the weight? Just thinking, maybe you already have such a set up, so how does it work? I hit a penny pocket and found some clads and a nice little ring, here in Northern California -- wish the beaches were close, oh, well, found this in a local park -

thats good idea should work good on the sand also, good job on the silver and coins. hey dbax where in northern cal are you im in crescent city hh
