Went detecting last Monday...was hoping for a great time

Pete in MI

New member
as I was listening to Mike from MI talk about the ground thawing and he had been detecting down state. So here I was in Lansing with my detector for a whole day while Sherry had other things to do.

I was able to find 1 quarter and 2 pennies and a brad off a pair of blue jeans and a broken zipper...well actually that is all I could chisel out of the ground. Seems Lansing had gotten snow a few days before and there was about 2 - 3 inches of frozen ground even where there was no snow on the ground and the sun was shining. Once I could get past the icy ground it was soft for digging.

I gave up trying to bust through the ice and also my X-1 probe kept SCREAMING in my ear everytime I switched it to pinpoint. The rest of the day became boring as that is all I had planned on doing. Oh well at least I got out.

Wonder if I will ever figure out the X-1 probe...when it works it is fantastic but when it don't my ears can't take it.

Glad to read that you got out to hunt, Pete...warmer days are comin'

get down here so I can look at that probe! then let's go diggin!

Glad you could get out and hunt, Pete! You'll find more when the ground thaws and becomes less muddy.....April is on its way with things greening up with more flowers blooming! Usually a beautiful month here in MO!

God Bless!
