Went detecting this morning...lots of pics

Pete in MI

New member
The place I went to is an old orchard area and appears it might have been some kind of business at one time or another. Nothing remains the same up here. Businesses open and they close due to economic conditions...with the price of gas I am sure there will be more business closing...many already have.

This place has reverted back to the township for back taxes.
Would like to own this piece of property myself.
Here are some pics of this area...no buidlings remain on this site.

Anyway I didn't do too badly for still trying to get used to the detector.

Here's my finds:

I couldn't get a good picture of the Wheatie and the other side of the token didn't come out. One side of the token reads: "Chamberlain's Bakery". The opposite side reads: "Good For One 5c Loaf Bread". (Where is the cent symbol on this computer???) Found 2 measuring spoons about 5 feet apart from each other. The penny is a 1945-D Wheatie...the only coin I found.

Had a great time. Hope everyone else get to get out before the next round of rain storms.

will have to contact these people but it looks like they may still be in operation...they have a website:

http://www.chamberlainbakery.com/history.htm

...and their history indicates they started in 1929. The token could have been brought up here by a visitor to this area or someone who lived in Detroit and owned the property where this token was found.

Oh yeah I had to dig down 8 inches for this token so guessing it had been there a long time.

Just thought maybe this would be interesting to you.

Good digs Pete ! That bakery token might be worth some bux. A couple years back I sold one from a local bakery for 80 bux. Check em out, Steve in so az

I bet there are more keeers there waiting to be found! :)
