Went detecting today...Met a detectorist from Wisconsin..

Pete in MI

New member
chatted for awhile. He is visiting here and was in one of the parks I frequent. Told him no problem. He was doing the grass so since I had my sand scoop I started working the sandy areas. Got a clad quarter and had to leave as the hotel called and needed me to come in to the other hotel I work with. Said HH to the visitor and headed to work.

Got out of the van at the hotel and found a dime lying on the parking lot next to the van.

That was the big haul for the day. Was kinda neat at the beach. One of the ducks must be used to being fed my park goers and walked up to me expecting a hand out. Had nothing to give him. Speaking of wildlife. Was in Walmart yesterday and the wife said there is a fake dragon fly on the floor. She went to pick it up and put it on a shelf before someone stepped on it and it moved. I took the little guy on my finger tip and started to carry it outside. The greeter jumped back when it jumped onto my shirt. Put the little guy on one of the trees in the parking lot.

I find these little guys so interesting. One I took a picture of his face and it looked like the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland.

Got home to find another dragon fly under our eaves.

There are many varieties I have found, not onlly in their faces but their body coloring as well. Very cool creatures God has made.

By the way, me and a couple guys might do a long weekend up your way. :)

Nice pics and you saved the dragonfly from a sure death in the store and glad you got out even if it wasn't for very long! :) God Bless! Betty

Sounds good. If ya get bored you are always welcome to give the ball field a going over up here.

It is a reminder,. Tells ya right on the coin...."In God We Trust"
I thank Him for that every time i bend down to pick up a penny.

We would mainly be hitting the water at Higgins and Houghton, and maybe others.

I agree Jim. I always pick up pennies once I saved 20 dollars worth of pennies in one month. I hate to see people walk over them.

..Last year;I had a Dragonfly wind up in my helmet near my R-ear while M/C riding-All those wings fluttering around my ear area felt mighty strange, let me tell ya's....HEY!!!Are ya gonna take your new friend to the BALLFIELD?? If ya do,I hope ya find LOTS!!!

I did go to the ball field today by myself. Got 4 Wheaties (2 came out of the same hole) and 5 .22 cal. short shell casings within 5 inch circle. Have not checked the dates yet on the coins. Got one Memorial penny to go with the other 4 pennies.

Ball field is still hiding goodies

That is cool too Mike.

Sherry said to let you know that we know of a great place to stay on Houghton Lake...a resort with a sandy beach, access to swimming area, an old building been there since the 30s I think and the owner enjoys seeing the finds (and lets ya keep all ya find). I have not touched the grassy areas yet but have gone in the water and on the beach last year.

Sherry said you guys are welcome to come to our church on whatever Sunday you come up and if ya can make it over here I'll cook up some steaks on the grill for ya as well.

Will pass on my cellphone to you via PM.
