An Indian and a large cent that is!
Killed about 30 minutes trying to secure a site and ended up at a muddy cornfield that I have hunted several times in the past.
First target was the Indian. The date is a little tough to read, it might be an 1876?
Found several relics and the large cent is an 1847 in nice shape!
Now we are in for some freezing weather so I might have to wait a while before I get out again.

Congrats on the good finds of 2 cents worth! Ya got some oldies there! :) God Bless! Betty

I even recognize the old rubber boot latch in the top right side with the slots...don't think they sell those over the shoe boots any more...least haven't seen any in a long time.

That is a harmonica reed. Kinda looks like the other but this one is a reed, it is flat with no bends. :)

gotta give me a break...I'm old and my vision is terrible hahahahahahahahaaha

I would love to find a large cent -
Of course here in Canada they were using large cents until the late just after WWI - so they are still out there.
Congrats - looks like a fantastic hunt - would have loved to be there.

Let me see a pic of the one you found.

Nice large cent Mike. As a coin collector, I appreciate the photo. Those coins have alot of character. Yours seems to be in really good condition. Don't clean it unless you really have to. Early on I cleaned alot of coins I came across, and found out it ruined the collector value somewhat. Keep looking. There's more to be found.

I don't clean them much! I like the patina! :)

Mine are round on the bottom, no hex sides. I think they also had a copper wire in them? Maybe very old electrical?
