Went Out Metal Detecting for The First Time...

this year w/my 'New' Minelab X-terra 505. I didn't find much in the hour that I beeped around but I did learn that the #505 is a very sensitive machine. One of my finds came in @ 8"plus and turned out to be a rusty 'ole bobby-pin that registered a -6 and sounded off w/ the typical iron grunt. I'm using the stock coil, which is the 9" Concentric 7.5kHz and am giving serious thought to buying the 6" DD 18.75kHz coil for hunting the parks and other areas that contain a lot of trash. With the exception of a few features, there's not a lot of difference between the X-terra 505 and the #705 and I'm glad I kept the extra bucks in my pocket. My gut tells me this machine is highly under rated and one fantastic metal detector, for the money invested. I think it could be safely said that people, in general, spend more for a metal detector than they need to or maybe should, when most will do little more than hunt for coins, in thier local parks, school yards, and such places. Of course that's good for business...right?

Glad you could get out but take care of yourself and don't overdo, as you want to be feeling much better when warmer weather comes for good! Also, congrats on liking your new detector...always a blessing to like and be satisfied with what you purchase to use even as a hobby! May God Bless you with healing for feeling well and able to go :detecting: soon! Amen! Ma Betty
