Had a heat wave today, got up to the mid 30's; so Mike, Eric and I went water hunting. I found the usual suspects of clad, trash and doodads, but had some keepers as well. The money clip was pretty crudded up, but when cleaned I discovered it had a fish and line design on it. The lumps of crud are respectively, nail clippers, a star socket for a ratchet set and what appears to be a token. They have been in the tumbler of four hours already, and will be spending an over nighter there next.
Not sure what the metal plate is from, any guesses would be appreciated. I didn't have as many coins as Mike, he has a water scoop of heavier gauge metal and I was using a sand scoop. The bed in much of the stream is rocky, making my recovery time slower. Mike being the wonderful guy that he is, went to one of the guy's from the detecting club we are in who happens to make water scoops and got three of them. We are meeting for a club banquet tomorrow and he is offering me one of the scoops and a really fair price. If I get it and I think I am, I should be able to raise my recovery rate.
Anyway, we had a great time today and are eager for the next trip. Maybe next Saturday? Hey Greg, the invite is still open, put on your warm pants and lets go detecting.
