wet detector

Well, my wife went detecting yesterday, went thru the car wash with the detector in the back of the pickup, washed it too!!! What do i do now to dry it out? I took the batteries out and took everything apart that i felt safe doing, did not turn it on, after the bath, for fear of frying it. Help, Jerry

If the batteries were in it while it got a bath then more than likely it will need to be checked out. Circuit boards do go through a wash cycle during the assembly process because of the flux. If the batteries were out at the time ,i would use a fan or a (hair dryer at a distance). You would need to dry it inside and out no matter. The speaker may need replacing for sure. I would definetly call Garrett at 1-800-527-4011. Good luck.
