wet sand pinpointing

Hello all,

For those salt water hunters out there I'm curious. After finding a target in salt water on wet sand how well does the AT Pro do in pinpoint mode?

Thx all and HH!

i don't use the pin pointer mode, i pin point off the coil to determine my target then i use a large beach scoop to retrieve target.....i do this on or off the beach..
hope this helps

I've mostly stayed away from salt water with my AT Pro because it's not a machine meant to handle it. If you're hearing a lot of noise when pinpointing, you might want to try the "AT Pro wiggle" approach to pinpointing and notch back the sensitivity. Also make sure you're properly ground balanced.

hummm just gotta chime in on this, you mention the at pro isn't meant to handle the salt water, i gotta say your incorrect on this, as Ive used mine on several trips to the beach and had great luck with mine..I'm in myrtle beach as i send this note for a few more days and i have mine with me along with my Excalibur 2 you might want to review the settings required for the salt water or the videos that are out from Garrett or others that will explain how to set the at pro up for salt water..
hope this helps

Hey John. The AT Pro can certainly function in salt water, I'm just saying it's not meant for salt water. You can always kick back the sensitivity and play with the ground balance, but true salt water machines are PI or multi-freq machines.

Thx for all the replies guys!! I think I will try out the wiggle approach. Lots of black sand on beach here and detector runs pretty noisy even with frequent GB and backing it off manualy a bit and lowering sens.

Thx again!!
