Wet Sand solution?

Hello,
I tried to use my Deus in the wet sand at Santa Monica beach southern CA. I tried the wet sand program and two of Andy's programs, but they all give me so many false signals that I never know when to dig. I turn sens way down, reactivity as low as it will go, and TX at 1, but still it gives endless false signals. I use to hunt the beach with my CZ-20 till it died recently. I'm thinking I need to fix it unless I can calm the Deus down.
On a positive note, after the dismal beach hunt I hit a patch of grass in my neighborhood and found a merc.

I tried mine on the beach and that's why I will not get rid of my Etrac it's one of the best beach machines IMHO

I'll give gold field a try. If nothing works I'll have to fix my broken CZ-20.

Also, you may want to remove the coil cover. I remember people complaining about the AT Pro being bad in wet sand, and then someone figures out that removing the coil cover fixes the falsing and can hit pennies out to about 9".

I love it when someone brings up what may be the most obvious but no one thought about it. Good idea TN Mike!

I removed the cover and gave it all a good wipe down before my previous outings to the beach. Next beach hunt I'll try no coil cover and Gold Field.

Remember to keep the coil off the wet sand. Dragging the coil will make it false.

It gets annoying on the wet sand...but the false signals are just random and don't repeat. A repeatable signal will become very obvious. And for sure don't bump the sand..it'll signal every time.

I've not tried the Gold Field program but I surely will.

A PI machine, in my opinion, is the only way to go for wet sand hunting.

Did read somewhere that if you use your machine minus coil cover this invalidates the Deus guarantee.

Have often discussed the merits of which programme to use for wet sand digging. Paul Cee videos here in the uk worth a watch. He has used the hot programme with some level of success. Ground balance on prog. 7 is set at 27 but on my beaches I have to manually adjust way down to about 6. Still get the feeling of missing targets due to lack of depth. Had a CS4PI machine for a few months, found it exceptional for all deep targets but I shifted more sand than most building sites ! Guess the only way to go is another P.I. and put up with the heavy workouts ! Next visit to the beach I will try Basic 10. Mossy.

The multi frequency machines like the CZ's in the mine lab machines will always work better in salt water ........ Single frequency machines will work somewhat but still not as good as the multi frequency machines ..... it is what it is .....

Yep why I wont get rid of my Etrac the Deus even falses when pinpointing
