What A Great Idea

C. Nyal de Kaye

New member
Last year we were driving home from Western Australia. Our trip is about the equivalent of driving right across continental USA. This may give you an idea of the distance involved.

We were still about 600 miles from home when we saw some horse manure splattered right in the middle of the road. That is not a common sight these days. About fifteen minutes later we came upon a horse drawn vehicle, again a rare sight. It had some writing on the back but we could not read it as we passed him by.

Once we got in front of him, not hard to do when he was doing about ten miles an hour, my wife asked me to stop so that she could take a few pictures as it came towards us. So we stopped. She got out with the camera and this is what she saw.

To our surprise the vehicle pulled over right behind us and we then saw the words "Gospel Wagon" painted on the front. You will see it easily if you look at an enlarged picture. Soon we were in conversation with the driver, Colin Trevaskis, and he told us all about his travelling ministry.

He had travellled all over the countryside over the last few years and, whenever anyone stopped to take a pic, he would pull up and talk to them about the Lord. What an idea!

He built the wagon himself and it is his travelling home. The inside is well-kitted out with a small kitchen and bedroom. It looks a bit cramped to me but he seems happy about it. The side opens up and reveals a largish space that he has stocked with Bibles, many Gospel tracts and various Christian publications. These are offered freely to all. He funds it himself with aid from the Baptist Church where he is a member.

This is how he spends his retirement years. What a wonderful idea. His name is Colin Trevaskis and he has a small website that has more pics and information.

My God bless his ministry.

What a great inspiration! How many of us would be willing to even consider doing this?
We are doing a lot of travelling now in the "warmer climes" during the winter and it would be a perfect opportunity to spread the Gospel.
We will be leaving Apache Junction on February 18th and beginning our journey home to take care of business that requires our presence, Our first stop will be Cottonwood, Arizona for a couple of weeks, then continuing on up the I-15 corridor back into Montana. If anyone is along that way that would like to get together, message me and we'll get together.

How wonderful is his ministry with the Lord blessing Him with a happy service as he travels and meets new people to talk and witness too! He is like the man with a walking ministry while carrying a large cross all over the world! May many be saved and have an eternal home with Jesus because of both of their dedicated ministries! Amen! Ma

Thanks for your comments folks.

He is like the man with a cross Ma and, like him, Colin gets on to the local TV stations when he comes to town.

Lot's of country towns in Oz are pretty small and Colin's arrival is probably the highlight of the year (decade perhaps!).

Your forthcoming trip mohayes sounds rather exciting. I have not been to Arizona but some pics I have seen of it look bit like outback Oz with which I am familiar. Have a great time mate.

Norm, in the picture of the gospel wagon coming toward you is that an eagle on the
ground in the lower right side of the photo?

That is really cool. You know it takes him a long time to get anywhere.

I should have enlarged that one before I opened my mouth and inserted my foot.
That is funny though, go ahead laugh it up lol, where are my glasses?

Everyone beat me to it George but, to give you an out, being an eagle is not as impossible as some may think.

Our Wedge Tailed Eagles are very large birds and seem to dislike taking off unnecessarily, and they put it off until the very last second.

Thus you can get surprisingly close to them before they reluctantly lift themselves into the air.

Once airborne they are masterful to say the least. They indeed "mount up with wings ... "

Anyway thanks for the laugh George, we always can do with more.

It just goes to show you that it doesn't take anything spectacular to get the message of Jesus Christ out to people. In fact, especially in this situation, less is MORE. What an incredible ministry. Thanks so much for sharing Norm!

Awesome ministry! Don't know about you folks but, when I enlarged the photos, all I could see was a dog walking along side the wagon; no eagle.

Thanks for all your kind comments folks.

It is an imaginative and effective idea.

It is easy to see that the dog does look a bit like a bald eagle in the photo until it is enlarged.

However we don't have bald eagles in Oz and our eagles look quite different.
