What about the old bus stops???

I'm on a roll here, so I might as well lay it out, before I get tired.:( You know I got to thinkin' the other day as I was driving around town, what about the bus stops? Maybe I'm reaching for it here, but if you take it a step further and see if you could find a route or layout of the Older bus stops or trolly stops in town, maybe you could find some old stuff. I figure people had to be fumbeling for change as the bus drove up. We have a historical society here in San Diego, and they actually have a photograph section of some of the old trolly stops and I found one right near the old house I grew up in. Speaking of Historical society's. That's a pretty good place, I've found, to find out where the old amusement parks, popular beaches, restaurants, etc. were. For me it's pretty fun just looking at the old pictures, but what an opportuninity to find out some valuable info on old places to search.:)

...old drive-in movie theaters.

Ah ha. I forgot about those. Honestly Mike, that should be a great place to go. We may still have a few here in town. Maybe even some that are still alive, if they'd let you in there.

Read this in a detecting magazine -- The vacuum canisters at the local car wash. It's just too icky for me.

Hey, hey, hey. Good thinkin' finn. How many things got sucked up in that bad boy. I think your on the right track. You know, since were all into the treasure idea, why not expand if we can or want to. You know not every treasure lends itself to a metal detector necessarily. How about people dropping coins down an old elevator shaft, either on purpose or just for fun. Dropping coins off bridges, when we were kids. Coins in the cracks in sidewalks, although, some of these things can certainly use a metal detector, I'm just trying to think outside the box for a minute. Coins in the walls of an old house. Railroad workers lounging around on lunch break near a railroad repair site. Monkey bars at an old school where kids turn upside down and lose coins. Ripped up side walks and streets. God almighty, do you realize the cool stuff that's probably under our old streets before they paved them when they were using horse and buggys. I get a h... on just thinking about it. I admit it, I've got "treasure fever", need a couple of barbour dimes to calm me down, but it's still cheaper therapy than going to a shrink. I'm setting a new goal to find enough treasure to pay for the detector.:)

I just played a gig the other night with a guy that lives here in town and he found out I had a detector. Come to find out he has 4 or 5 detectors, used to go gold mining around the state and loves treasure hunting. Nedless to say, we started talking about stuff and he told me he worked a lake we have here in town where he found out they used to run horse and buggy races around the lake back in the 1800's and used to have refreshment stands set up for the onlookers. Wow, what an opportunity. I drove by that lake the other day, before I knew that, and just thought, yea, maybe it's ok, but gee there don't seem to be too many people there. Maybe I'll just pass on it. To me, that's a lesson in "if you don't know the whole story, you might be missing out". At least in this instance, I think that's the case. I'll let you know if I find anything, however, I guess this guy worked the lake pretty good some years back with his detector. I just hope maybe he missed something and/or the Quatro might enhance the search.
