What about the Outlaw?

When it was first released it was all the rage. Now i don't hear much at all about them. I have one coming and was wondering, did they trun out to be a flop? Are they a good machine? I got one with the 3 coils. Just wish the was a DD and not the concentric. So are there any of you using one? If so, what do you think of it? Is it a low freq. Vaquero, a Silver Umax with GB and threshold, or a whole New machine. Would appreciate any and all input on them. Thanks

Its a great detector , it would be my 1st choice for hunting soccer fields and so on I just would not call it a deep relic machine if I could change one thing on it i would put a ED 180 on it

Not interested in relics at all. Pretty much illegal in the Liberal State of Oregon. What i want are coins, Jewelry, and Gold.

The Outlaw is a great little detector I love mine. It discriminates well, it runs quiet in iron trash. The depth on it is good and it pin points rite on the money. I hardly ever use the re-tune button for pin pointing, learn the re-tune button and how it works and always lift the coil back to the air after using it and hit the re-tune button to put the detector back in full operation or it will stay de-tuned. The 7" wide scan DD is an awesome coil on the Outlaw but it is not one of the three coils that come with it but very much worth having( my favorite coil on the Outlaw, do a search on my name Bill G & Tabman and look at our post concerning the Outlaw, the 7" DD coil and other comments concerning the Outlaw detector by myself and Tabman ) You will find a lot of information on it that's been posted. Learn the disk mode and where targets drop out when thumbing the disk knob this will be a big help to you as well. Also make sure it's ground balanced correctly and you will be good to go.

I think in time after learning the detector you will find it to be a great unit just like most of us that have them you will love it.

Happy Hunting, :detecting:

Thanks Bill, I plan to get the 7" DD for it before long. If it is any where near the machine the Vaquero is i am sure i will like it.

The Outlaw is a little different beast than the Vaquero but it will stand on it's own. The function/controls of the detector is about the same like all Tesoro small box detectors so it's a snap to operate. The Outlaw is not quite as hot as the Vaquero but that's not a bad thing as she runs smooth as glass ( like mentioned by myself and others it's very good in iron trash) and still gets really good depth. The lower frequency of the Outlaw makes it a great coin machine and that is what you said you were looking for.

Let us know how you like it the plus's & minus.

Best of luck and post pic's

Thanks again Bill. I am hoping to have it by this weekend. Will try to get out and try it out soon after.

I love mine. I'd type more but I have a rather large cat laying on my arms.

I know what the Outlaw can do. It doesn't take long for it to pay for itself. Here are just a few days out with it:

That a great video! Thanks for sharing. You're right, once you figure out the no-motion it's an awesome detector. It's one button and one switch too many for some.
