Hi Jim,
Snowy from downunder here. ( Newbie.)
You mention sweating in the ears from headphones in the hot weather, I get out when it's hot and get the same soggy ear problem...
What I do is wear a hat with a legionaire sort of cape down the sides and neck, this cape is absorbent, soft fabric, and I let it cover over my ears, the sound is not effected but the fabric absorbs the perspiration.
There's a line of hats called "Frillneck."
I don't know if they are available Stateside or not.
