What Bible version do you use?

Got way too much time on my hands here at work.

Thought I'd ask you all what version of the Bible do you use?
If you speak or deliver a message to the congregation; what study materials do you rely on.

I use a Scofield King James study bible, Strong's Concordance and Wesley's New Testament commentary.

I'm a lay speaker in the United Methodist Church and deliver the message 2-3 times a year.

Normally, just the NIV; however, a month ago I got one of those iPhones and I downloaded a free Bible application. It had every version of the Bible known to man on it; even in other languages. So, last Sunday for instance, I was able to bounce back and forth between a number of versions. Very interesting. It also includes commentary on the verse or chapter. Pretty cool stuff.

They have a through the Bible in a year on it and by golly I'm going to give that a shot in the new year :)
 
I use the King James Version....Thompson Chain....and really like it! I was blessed to receive it and a leather cover from my brother Larry and sister-in-law, Wanda, for Christmas in 1986! I really like it and I was so thirsty for God's Word that I prayed and studied it, diligently, for 20 years and wrote many Christian poems since 1987! (Over 3000) I used to read my poems in church but I have to say, I haven't attended church services for a long time, since my pastor, Brother & Sister Latta retired. Wesley's New Testament Commentary sounds interesting, maybe I will buy it sometime, because I've read the book on John & Charles Wesleys' mother and the way she raised her children by the Method of religion! They both spread the good news in the USA and from my cousin, Virginia, in Jeff City, researching our geneaology, we found out that we are related to the Wesley's! There were many preachers on both mom's side of the family, of which they were two of them! Both Methodists and Southern Baptists! And yet I've chosen the Penecostal faith or Jesus chose it for me! :)

I love my NRSV -
but for real word study I go to the original. We have a Greek Hebrew Interlinear with word translation under the original language, and numerical code directed to the Strongs Concordance. I've also gone to my husbands NIV or my daughter's Message bible for a different take on a verse.
I will also look at a different bible verse wording through different versions at biblegateway.com -

I have NIV, Revised Standard, and others as well.

On the computer I have the free Bible program from e-Sword ( http://www.e-sword.net/downloads.html ) which has several versions available for download for free as well as dictionary, concordances, commentaries and much more. Good programs and add ons. Also has a similar program for PocketPCs

Hi folks, I haven't posted here so this is my first time. I have the Holman KJV as my personal "carry to church" Bible. I preach out of the Holman Reference KJV Bible with LARGE PRINT and study from the Holman Illustrated Study Bible. I also collect old Bibles that I buy at flea markets and yard sales. My oldest is a KJV from 1935. Inside the front cover it has some hand writing that says: To Jimmie, with love from Daddy and Mother. Christmas 1944.Keswick, N.J.
Oh yeah, I am blessed to have the time to metal detect which I really enjoy. Otherwise I "sing" the gospel of Jesus Christ on a full-time / part-time basis in my family group.

Welccome again, Bro Curt! Your 1935 Bible with name and message reminds me of the Small New Testament that I have from my Uncle John, who was using it in service during World War II, and he wrote in it that he was saved on July 22, 1945, which really pleases me, for it was my Tenth Birthday! Well I am telling my age! :lol: But I have Jesus as my blessed, personal Savior so age doesn't matter for me any more....Just so I am caught up into His loving and waiting arms on Resurrection Day! :angel: God Bless!
