What can this be?

I found this yesterday. It appears to be made of copper. You can tell from the picture that it is really big and round like a ball. Probably weighs 10Lbs. Any ideas?

If you are in mining country I would say a ball from a Ball Mill used to pulverize ore to a fine powder. I've found a few of them but they are always made of iron and never round due to being "tumbled" out of round. The fact that it is copper is strange from a mining standpoint. Perhaps, from a different sort of Ball Mill to tumble leather or some other material to make it softer?
