sorry to knock my favorite detector yet but what depth do u get?

i was running really hot the other day in disc for the first time ( gain 95, thresh 0) and i picked up a full silver groat 800 years old at 9-10 inches in solid ground!! i was extremely impressed!! but................ its complete and utter shat on the wet sand :( but maybe its just me not knowing my machine

I have used my F5 for about 50 hours and the deepest coin I have found has been about 8 inches deep. The places I hunt have ground phase reading in the 70 to 80's with usually two or three bars blackened on the FE meter. Coins deeper than 6 inches are usually very soft and if you are not using good phones, you might not hear them clearly. I also used an Omega 8000 and it also had weak audio on deep coins. But, the F5 like the Omega will find deeper coins, but you have to know what to listen for. This will come with practice and digging these deep whispers. I did not buy my F5 for extreme depth, but I bought it for it's accuracy and ease of use. Several times I have been surprised by an eight inch coin so I am confident in that respect. Now for the bad. You cannot expect depth to remain the same when hunting different places. Depth is influenced by ground conditions and user ability. I am a firm believer in using litte or no disc and settings as hot as conditions allow. My settings. Sens 75, threshold 0 to 1, disc 8, three tones and finally a slow sweep. I would consider your detector to be set up hot when you lay it down to dig and it is slightly chirping. This chirping should go away as soon as you start sweeping the coil. I hope this helps. R.L.

usally run it 75 to 80 thres 3 or 4 two tone two or three on the fe bar here also ya set it ddown and it drives ya buggy
