what detector does everyone use?

I seriously want to get a better detector. I have the ace250, and I love it, but I want to get more depth and more accuracy. What does everyone use here?

I am really leaning towards a minelab, an x-terra 70 is my choice as of now. The explorer would be nice, but I don't think I can afford it, unless I find some serious gold or a really rare coin sometime soon...lol

a lot of people here in the minelab section have given me a ton of good info, if anyone else has anything to add, feel free to let me know.

if I wasn't so afraid of going deep into the ocean waters, I would certainly buy the water-proof Excalibur,

But for my type of detecting, I have never been disappointed with the GT and Elite.

17. The Infinium only has iron check and that isn't the greatest in that it is a P.I. unit. You will probably have to start carrying a shovel to get your finds, seriously. The units suggested by Greg and the Minelab Extera 70 are good units along with Tesoro and HeadHunter. Think very seriously before plunking down your money.

EXP for deep coins and relics, and the CZ for water.
I just seen a good deal on a Explorer for $650.
They would probably take $600??

would be a good deal, but I am just NOW starting to save $$$, maybe when I get the cash saved I can put you all on watch for a deal someone might have :clapping:

I'm leaning towards the Minelab Explorer or the Fisher F-75. But for now I have my Ace 250

i use a BH Outback, my hubby has a BH lonestar, my kids have a BH VLF and a BH JR. didnt plan it this way , but BH,s are affordable..if i could have my choice of machine i would want either an excalibur or an MXT.

Can't imagine digging more than this machine shows me so I'll stick with it. Best advice = get a machine and learn it instead of trading off for yet another one. A lot of people do keep buying newer ones because of what someone found with theirs. End of sermon :) steve in so az

I am happy with my BH,s found some pretty good stuff with mine. i would just like a better model.....upgrade a little. will take some time though as i cant afford nothing as of yet...

White's DFX for land and Fisher 1280X for fresh water work very well for me,but everyone has their favorite.

I could give ya a 'down grade'. Got an old BH BFO detector  We're talking like 1970's technology.

Still works too as far as I know...just not as 'smart' as the machines these days.

I have a White's Spectrum XLT that I use when I do go :detecting: which has been awhile, but I really like it although it doesn't go real deep! And yet, it is fine for me, as I don't want to dig deep holes in the school grounds or the parks! It is an older one and is okay for me! I have programs loaded into it that help me find where I am hunting at the time! Got a coin program that I use a lot, as I can find coins and some silver and gold with it and I don't tire myself out so much with all the digging! I like to balance my swinging with my digging, that way I don't get so tired swinging all the time or digging all the time! Works for me, but if I were much younger and could learn easier I would purchase a Minelab detector of some kind but wouldn 't be worth the price now for me, as I don't go :detecting: very much and besides the parks here have been hunted with minelabs for years!

Good luck in buying another one, but you will need to use it often to learn the sounds and how it works, for they all seem to work differently! Too many people won't take time to learn how to use their detector and get discouraged right away, so patience gets the good finds and relics!

God Bless!

Loved my 1280x. Needed money so sold it. Then got the Tesoro Stingray later and found it lighter in weight and easier to swing in the water. If it doesn't warm up pretty soon I might not get much water detecting in this year...not that I have gotten much detecting in at all since the gas prices went nuts.

...I have a Fisher Coinstrike, a White's Classc IDX and Brian's Ace 250 standing in the corner just begging to go out!!

on the front of the motorcycle? Saw 2 of them up here. Seen several of the ones with the 'training wheels' so to speak on the back but first I've ever seen them on the front. Heard they are more stable than the 'trykes'.

i have a whites spectrum that ive had since 1993.I use it for general hunting.I have a garrett 1500 that i use for hunting coins.I also have a garrett gta 1000 that ive used for 6 hours,im going to try to convert it to a fresh water machine.
