What Did You Get?

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Ours was great, but a bit sad too. Losing my daddy just six weeks ago and this being the first Christmas without him was a little bit tough. Everything gets back to normal tomorrow with me going back to work after the holiday. I usually have my tree and all the decorations down the day after Christmas but looks like they will be up for at least a couple of more days. Spent the day in Chattanooga with my daughter today instead of tending to business here at home. Oh well, it was worth it. :)

Did anyone get anything special, unusual, or exciting for Christmas? What did you get? Lets here about it!

Lisa

got a new pair of hiking boots, a cordless drill/saw combo for my honeybee hive projects, and a subscription to a Beekeeping magazine, and got to spend the day with my sweetie Joan.

Did your prize arrive?
We had a nice Christmas with all the kids home.
Got the usual, socks, camo PJ pants, gift card, picture frame with pic, some radio headphones for work and a few other little things.

Travis and I got a gift for our home this year. A larger tv and sound system complete with a media fireplace to house all the new goodies Got a few other little things, too, but probably my most favorite was something my mother surprised all three of her grown girls with. Mom had made us all matching bears out of my granny's favorite nightgown. She passed away December 17th of last year and I have been missing her something terrible and was overjoyed with my reminder of her and my mom's thoughtfulness. It was a very full Christmas, indeed. It doesn't take much materialistically to make me happy anyhow. Family is where it's at for me ;)

Not yet, Mike. It will probably show up this week. The mail tends to be a little bit slow this time of year, ya know. :) Looking forward to seeing what it is!!! :jump:

Well, Rick... sorry, buddy! lol

That's pretty COOL, Liz!

I think beekeeping would be very interesting. Tim had an uncle who had a few hives but I never got around to asking him to show me a thing or two before he passed away. There is a man who is always at one of the arts & craft shows/harvest festivals I go to who brings some of his products, along with a hive that is between two pieces of glass. It's fascinating to watch those bees work in there.

Congrats to y'all on the new TV! Tim and I still haven't made the upgrade. We're still sitting in front of our regular TV. My son and daughter both have big screen TVs at their houses, and so do some of our other family members. You're right! It DOES make a huge difference! I'm sure we will bite the bullet and make our own purchase before long.

Well, maybe you'll do better in the upcoming year. Wouldn't want the jolly old man to skip you two years in a row! ;-)

Tough year here as well. Between family emergencies and a bad economy we never even got decorations out. Opening the package from Leslie in Nova Scotia was our treat. Thanks for the nice stuff!

Clothes and a pocket knife.

We've all heard it said that "It's the thought that counts." The cost of an item and or gift has nothing to do with it. Why compare, what I received, with anyone else? The most wonderful gift any of us has ever received has been eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord, if we believe in and trust Him. What more could anyone ask?

Sorry! Apparently I missed the point. It appears so much focus is on 'Stuff' rather than 'The Reason for the Season'. Yes...I received some neat gifts but the things that mattered most go unanswered or 'ungifted', if you will.
