what do you do with your ring finds?

Do you sell tgem ? Give them as gifts? The wife take them? Or melt them for silver/gold/platinum value? Just wondering.

I put mine in boxes and show them off at every opportunity. (as you get older, people seem to tolerate you more)

Wife picks out a few. Rest go for sale when gold is high. I don't really think they have any real interest unlike a relic or rare coin.

Recently I sold a few to a pawn shop nearby that gives me good prices as a return customer. I have also pawned a few of the nicer ones(i.e. the diamond ones that pawn shops and gold buyers don't value the gems) in case I find a real buyer that will pay for the actual ring not just the gold value.

I tried the "We buy gold" places but they seem to be a rip off, I have found 10 rings in the past 2 months and sold 2 and pawned 6 for a total off about $500-$550 all of different karats and sizes, not much for their face values but hey its an extra $500 i didn't have. If I decide to get them back I can if I don't no loss either way. :)

BTW I just bought a new Compadre with the sell off the 2 rings which were simple gold bands (about $100) I got the detector at a steal of $90 only used 2 times warranty card not even filled out yet.

Wife takes the good ones, wife also sells the little 2gr ones at her garage sale for @50bucks a piece, which is about melt value give or take. I'm saving the heavy stuff to ship to some refiner one of these days.

So far all the rings that I have found have been sterling. No Gold Yet. One or two of the ones that I found have been passed along to my wife as she liked them. The rest of my silver finds go into my treasure box along with any silver coins that I find. Might sell them someday if I ever find enough to make it worth while.

Thats funny. Explains why I have not been shot yet.
Must be my family and friends really love me, or just tolerate me.

Most of my ring finds are silver. I have two nice gold rings but not
enough to make it worth selling. I just hold on to all my rings. NOW that
said, I have lots of junk rings. I was thinking I might just go out to one of
the over hunted parks and seed the area with them...give some newbie
with his/her brand new $1500 dollar detector a chance to find something?
Hahahaha. Am I mean or what?

Ya know, Robert, now that I think about that, it isn't mean. Think of the joy youre bringing to a n00b.
Heck, even to me! I still like finding crappy jewelry. Theres that microsecond of euphoria when it still might be precious metal......

microsecond of euphoria
Yea, I remember how good it felt when I found the junk.
I won't seed the park though. I remember how I felt when
an old lady in Russellville did that to me.

The town is old, and most people there don't want you
around because of some past people who came in and tore
up some very old vacant/abandoned homes for scrap. I can see their
point about being suspicious.

His old gal gave me permission to detect around her place, but
wouldn't you know it, seeded the area around her house. I came back
the next day to detect and found silver all in one small area. You could
tell the ground had been freshley dug. And right under the bedroom window of all places

I reacted badly. I was really pissed off. I'm not a little boy on an easter
egg hunt picking up all the eggs my parents planed for me to find.
At first I thought she was just being kind...but a second thought and I
realized she was testing my character. Before I left she came out and asked
"Well did you find anything?" I held my peace and said "NO." but later I
realied she probably thought I was un trust worthy. GOD I hate people like that.

If She had not pulled that crap on me and I had found the Silver honestly, I
would have gladly shown her what I found. But Noooooooo. In my opinion her action
was as dishonest as what she thought about me. But the upshot is her action just
confirmed in her mind, what she wanted to see.

I did myself a diservice. I should have let her have her fun, even though it wasn't
the least bit funny to me.

No, I won't seed the park.

They rest in a jewlrey box. I have never done this for profit, just enjoy getting out and exercise.

I keep all my gold and silver rings scattered in the ground in fields and parks and along beaches in various parts of the US, just for safe keeping. If you happen to find one while detecting please return it to me. Thanks.

Most of the class rings I have returned. I have found a few wedding bands for people. All the rest goes in my show case... KEN

I sold heavy gold chains and heavier gold rings. Ladies gold rings don't have enough gold in them to sell so I gave them away to family and freinds.

I have only found 1 gold ring which is a mothers ring with 3 birthstones that I would like to reunite with the owner if possible . It was found in a town in midwestern I'll at a baseball field. PM me if you happen to know who may have lost it.
