Why, two and a half hours of metal detecting fun of course!
Hi everyone,
Went to my small local park and had some more fun today. I found out via the local museum that this park used to be the meeting place for the local Indian tribes and settlers to trade goods in the late 1800's. I also found out via a lady that has lived adjacent to the park for a few decades, that the place has seen a lot of metal detectorists over the years looking for all the goodies that the traders of the past may have left behind. For me, this park has produced a few Wheats (oldest being 1910), a couple of Mercs, and now one Rosie.
Today, I spent two and a half hours dissecting a small area, dodging numerous dog land mines (the locals let their dogs have run of the place), and came away with a rusty 1949-S Wheat, a 1946-S Rosie, and a 1963 Jefferson. The Wheat and Rosie were both 5-6 inches deep and, as usual, within 4 or 5 inches of some chunk of iron (which is most likely why they were still there). Even though the take was small, I still had a great time swingin' the Trac.
Thanks for looking and good luck on your next hunt!
