Betty brings up the idea below - what all have you found while detecting that's of interest and not dug ?
I found a new long handled sledge hammer stamped a RR line one time out along a lonesome track.
Found a bra in a bush out in the desert <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
Found a retractable dog leash
Found a big machete - sold it on ebay for some bucks
what about you, Steve in so az

Find lots of deer antlers in the forest preserves. Find sleeping bags and tents in forest preserves belonging to homeless people so don't take them. Found a 6 pack of beer back in October. I don't drink so left it there. Probably belonged to a homeless person also. Found a couple of diggers in forest preserve also. Found a nice tire on a white spoke rim last Sunday while detecting. Left it because I figured it was stolen. Why else would it have been in the forest preserve. Have found many old bottles in the forest preserves while detecting. I have a collection of 9 half pints all different dairys. Probably more things I can't remember.

Glad no one was holding that mechete when you met it!
I usually lose more than I find, but I find golf balls, baseballs, softballs, jackets. They told me just to keep one jacket when I told the groundskeeper about it, she said no one would ask for it, even if it was turned in and the other....a nice winter jacket...I placed on a receptacle bin in front of the doors of the school out of the weather!
I found a pink hand towel once...my bathroom is pink...& miscellaneous things left in the pavilion that kids played with! I also found a white plastic bag of games & asst toys which was in the trash barrel in the park...so I took it & my grand & great-grandchildren have really had fun with the Fisher Price fishing games. Maybe I stole them, but hope not & since they were in the trash, I assumed the trash men would just haul the bag away with the rest of the trash!
I found a half deflated basketball in the woods & my older grandson blew it up fully with an air pump & he and his brothers played with it while at grandma's house! They've taken home tennis, golf, base & soft balls that I've found! Nothing great, but better than losing items like I have too many times!
Just lost a real nice slim screwdriver this past Sunday! I was too tired to go back & search for it, so hopefully someone will find it before it rusts!
Would be nice to find a watch, bracelet or other jewelry laying in the grass! But so for no luck either eyeballing or digging for the diamonds!
God Bless!
Betty

a 10K ladies ring in the parkinglot at Burger King.

...comes to mind is...A friend and I were MD'ing a park on a warm day and had dug nothing but trash. I needed a rest and found some rocks jutting out of the ground and walked over to sit and rest awhile. Searching for a good place to sit, I saw a penny lying on the rock. It was dated 1919. The only coin found!

Found a working Weed Eater (missing its spool)- lying on the ground next to a trash can in a park - no one around (and police said not stolen)

An Ike Dollar lying on top of the ground at a dog demonstration
<p align=center><img src="http://coinshooter.owly.net/IkeDollar.jpg"></p></center>
A shovel - narrow blade and yellow shaft - maybe from some gas, electric or water company crew they forgot to take with them
<p align=center><img src="http://coinshooter.owly.net/Shovel.jpg"></p></center>
A sand sculpture on a beach that I destroyed immediately (someone thought it 'cute' to make a nude female sand scupture showing all the parts) - glad I got there before anyone else - especailly children
(No there is no picture!)
An abandoned plastic toboggan of the side of a toboggan hill
(Didn't waste the 'electrons' or bring it home)
An assortment of small Hotwheels type cars and such - maybe 20 of em - lying on top of a picnicn table in a park with no one around (bet that kid missed those after he got home - or maybe there was an accident and in the haste they were left behind - don't know
(Guess I didn't take a pic of them when I found them)
A Tire Pump that works (runs from cigarette lighter)- found in the street along the gutter - had to turn around to go get it
<p align=center><img src="http://coinshooter.owly.net/TirePump.jpg"></p></center>
That Golfer's Ball Marker coin I found in a parking lot
<p align=center><img src="http://coinshooter.owly.net/PGA%20Tour%20token.jpg"></p></center>
A metal button
<p align=center><img src="http://coinshooter.owly.net/MetalButton.jpg"></p></center>
A couple of small glass 'gems'
<p align=center><img src="http://coinshooter.owly.net/GlassGems.jpg"></p></center>
And this HUGE squirrel who helped me eat a candy bar
<p align=center><img src="http://coinshooter.owly.net/Squirrel3.jpg"></p></center>
There are probably more things I forgot about but these were interesting to find.

pager. I had it a few minutes and it went off. I was at a park with no one else there. I kept detecting for about one more hour and the pager went off about 20 times. Each time it showed a phone number and then some other numbers. After detecting I went to pick up our son at school and told the office lady about the pager. She said she saw a show on a cop tv show and she thought the other numbers were a drug code.
I then went to the police station and gave the the pager. They said it was a drug code for needing some pot. They also said they would be kind enough to go to the house and return the pager and give the guy or gal a free ride in the cop car!!! ha ha
Never herd any more about it

Found a softball - our Doberman loves to play with it...
Found a lot of golf balls (and I don't golf)
Found this really cool and collectible item - its a autographed baseball from our own city's baseball league - The Lansing Lugnuts

(As a side note - somehow our YorkiePomeranian got the ball - the names have been licked off) I gave it to Sherry as a souviner (?) and she about went ballastic over the whole thing.
And for anyone who has been making the attempt at "Finding Nemo" - here he is:
