What I will hate about the AT Pro..... :ranting:

Is my water hunting will not be protected! I mean there are times I see hunters up in the sand while I'm wading collecting bling. Now it's open season! Lots of hunters will be using the AT Pro and figure "what the heck, I can hunt in the water too" This machine will convert a lot of dirt diggers into sand scoopers! Why not, they'll have the machine to do it. Maybe nobody else has heard about this AT Pro?

I think successful water hunting involves a certain technique as well as a certain mindset. Not to mention the extra equipment--boots, waders, scoop. How do you manage that scoop anyway? I've seen videos but looks really awkward. You gotta know what youre doin and how to do it. Mindset is the major thing. Personally, I wouldnt care to even try it. Don't think you have that much to worry about.

It ain't hard. If the water is too cold I don't go in. If it beeps you scoop. Shake scoop, retrieve target. It doesn't have to be any more complicated than that. Well, the girls in the Bikini's makes it all worth it to me. I just make sure I wear reflective sunglasses. Oh, I will go to the beach if there's no eye candy. But it makes for a long day.........
PS: Last year three hot chicks came right up to me and wanted to handle my equipment! I said sure! But they wanted to use the detector and scoop in the water! I wish I had a camera that day! Sometimes your detector is like having a Puppy with you when it comes to the ladies.

One small downside to waterhunting. You can come down with a case of the hershey squirts if you swallow any water due to bacteria etc.. Two of my hunting buddies up here both became ill from the same beach water. They were sick for a month..not good. Definately gotta be careful.

Yea, I cant wait to tear up all the public beaches around the mid Missouri area. Me and my 12 hunting buddies have all preordered one. We will be out if force......Just kidding Khouse......I do not think it will turn many into water hunters. If I wanted to water hunt I would have already bought a water detector.

I've been lucky with the squirts! I did go to a lake beach where there was Goose crap all over in the water. I didn't get past my knees!

I have been water hunting for years. Water hunting is not like land hunting where you can quickly dig or scoop up your target and be on your way. It takes practice learning to pinpoint when you can not see the target in cloudy water. Many times even with the right equipment, things can start to be a challenge. Sometimes I would find myself out there for 20+ minutes going for a small part of a broken gold necklace. I know the sound of gold when it is under my coil most all the time. I have seen several people come out to water hunt only to go back to hunt back on land saying there are not enough targets out in the water to go out and risk drowning.
With the AT Pro operating at 15kHz it will find the small stuff. Trying to scoop up a split shot can be time consuming for a newer water hunter and they may quickly return to land where things are easier to retrieve. We shall see how many AT's stay out hunting in the water or go back to shore.

That is true. I have many a time chased a swimming piece of foil or beaver tail. The waters I usually hunt are clear for 30 to 40 feet. I like it about waist to chest deep.

From past experience I would equate one hour in the water to 3 on land..In the last 20 years or so indeed with many water machines out there the ranks of water hunter have grown immensely.
Takes some special tools and practice to pinpoint in the water so a few more won't matter.....

One thing I do is get to the beach right when it opens. Then it's the others that come after me that is intruding on my hunting. Not the other way around. I believe it was Harold in Florida that told me that the kids will drive you crazy. I found this to be true as the fresh water swim areas sometime are not large enough to loose them. They will follow you around and even dive down while scooping trying to get your treasures! Sometimes moving deeper doesn't help as these kids can tread water for 3 days strait! Then it's time to leave... I tell the kids I'm removing needles and glass. The occasional "hey, is that a snake?" will scare some away.

Waterdog had it right! It may be a simple process but it isn't easy to water hunt effectively. I still laugh at myself thinking back on my waterhunting summer this year! There were times I got so frustrated with some simple little gear malfunction that I wanted to throw a cussin' fit! Then the kids, then the moms who don't know what to think so they act like you're after their children, about that time you have something around your leg only to find out it's some girl's used maxi-pad! LOL... Or then the really funny stuff like one time I caused a mass exodus of Mexicans at one swimming area. Turns out a navy blue underarmour shirt along with a US Naval Academy cap and navy blue swim trunks makes folks think they're getting ready to be deported! Now on the other hand...I decided that would be my UNIFORM from there on out. Nobody bothered me (except the kids) when they thought I was there in an official capacity.

Nope. Only us gluttons for punishment will stick it out long enough to actually find anything in the water! The skimmers will move on!
