I dug this last weekend and just cleaned it up tonight. Its kinda spooky looking, the words around the image say "The Jovian Order Co. Operation"

...can you make out the words on it, Dan? The reflection on the pic is killing the top line...

The bottom line says "Co. Operation" Nothing on the back except marks were a pin was once soldered on.
It is kinda weird looking-I don't know whether to keep it,bury it in a mustard jar,or perhaps give it to my mother-in -law....LOL (Just kidding mom!)

You dug deep to get that....all the way to HELL! That is one intresting find Dan, Satan lost his belt buckle.... or what ever it was. >>>Jovianism Catches On
As originally published in a 1912 edition of International News Service, Elbert Hubbard reports on the formation of a unique electrical society founded in Austin, Texas, in 1899. Known as

...but I suppose a grave marker like that might be considered in bad taste

...it was an Canadian 8th Battallion insignia that I saw when looking for badges.... sorry

From wired magazine:
>>There seems to be something slightly intoxicating about electricity, because predictions about its future often have the whiff of an author tipsy on one form of juice or other. In 1913, a man named Elbert Hubbard invited those who were "engaged in the business of harnessing electricity" to join a fraternal organization called the Jovians. (Thomas Edison, Samuel Insull, and George Westinghouse all joined.)<<<
ALSO, Dan....
Here's a new organisation also involved with electricity and out of Texas. I'd guess it is a revived form of the original Jovian Order.
If your whatzit is from the original Jovian Order, I got a hunch that it is a pretty rare item, but the guy listed below will know all about it. Might be worth contacting him. If he offers to buy it, be bold with your price and stick to your guns. It may well be a one of a kind! Remember that Thomas Edison was a member. If you can confirm the connection you'll have a real sellable collector's item!
>>>Jovians
The Jovians share a common interest in the history of electrical technology, sponsor a breakfast at the annual meeting, sponsor sessions at the annual meeting, and publish an occasional newsletter. There are no dues.
