From wired magazine:
>>There seems to be something slightly intoxicating about electricity, because predictions about its future often have the whiff of an author tipsy on one form of juice or other. In 1913, a man named Elbert Hubbard invited those who were "engaged in the business of harnessing electricity" to join a fraternal organization called the Jovians. (Thomas Edison, Samuel Insull, and George Westinghouse all joined.)<<<
ALSO, Dan....
Here's a new organisation also involved with electricity and out of Texas. I'd guess it is a revived form of the original Jovian Order.
If your whatzit is from the original Jovian Order, I got a hunch that it is a pretty rare item, but the guy listed below will know all about it. Might be worth contacting him. If he offers to buy it, be bold with your price and stick to your guns. It may well be a one of a kind! Remember that Thomas Edison was a member. If you can confirm the connection you'll have a real sellable collector's item! <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt="

>>>Jovians
The Jovians share a common interest in the history of electrical technology, sponsor a breakfast at the annual meeting, sponsor sessions at the annual meeting, and publish an occasional newsletter. There are no dues.
