Was out today in the woods this is one of the things I found. It's marked Pat Arp 11 1882 with the number 13 in the center.
It's made of brass 6" long 3"1/4 wide 1"3/4 thick. I don't know what it's off of hope some one might know?

Is there a way to look up patents by the date. I wouldn't think a whole lot of things were issued patents that day.

Cool find, but no clue on what that is!

Is it some sort of weight? Have you put it on the scale to see if it weighs 13 pounds? Just an idea...

You would be surprised at how many patents were issued that day, or reference that day's patent. Plus, the patent could be for just a part of a machine, or a process used, and a single machine may have had several patented parts, all different. Sofar, l'm looking only at patents for equipment for this date. I've come across an industrial cream separator, vibrating separating scree unit, hub boring machine for wagon wheels, and the electric fan. That #13 must be a model number, so I've been searching for references to a #13 for any of these examples.

My thought is punch plate for a press of some kind..... just a thought
