Hey Lawrenzo,
I was thinking the same thing. I'm sure you saw that thread where someone mentioned that it is pretty certain the next detector will be higher end. Forget where I saw it, but it was related from someone inside I believe. I'm sure, partly due to what the T2 can do, others will release something great. Can you imagine a much improved and balanced explorer II? But the T2 adds price benefit, where as explorer just excludes people with the high price. Maybe the multiple frequencies aren't needed as we can see with the T2.
What I am wondering is what the T2 will do with the "upgraded" (is it) eproms or chips? What features do you want? Memory to me is not an issue at all, it is just to fast to set up. I now leave my detector on when I hunt so that's not an issue. Each hunt is new so I spend the 10 seconds or less to set it up. Another few modes would be cool! We might need submenues if we get up there.

Any ideas here?
What I was wanting to do is to create a poll here on what features are important for us (in the T2 and where not possible in thier next detector). Maybe we can start it off in a new thread and Teknetics can listen to what we are saying. For starters:
1.
Night light - This is a must have. If they are concerned about battery life it can be run off a separate batter or have that option.
2.
Smaller coil - I want to see what it can do, but is it necessary?
3.
Memory - not for me, but I can understand some people would want it.
4.
Choice of frequencies or multiple frequencies. Look what a minelab can do with them and look what T2 can do without... one can imagine what a T2 can do with em too.
5.
Notching (not for me, not in a foreign country knowing where coins fall, but for others, yes.)
6.
I WANT A SLOW MODE CHECK! Just push a button to investigate and keep the trigger as is to pinpoint and size. Maybe push a button and pull the trigger (sort of like to change freq). I miss being able to really focus in on a target. T2 does a great job as it is, but "slow mode" would be cool, and wouldn't exclude those who like it slow.
7.
Easily removable chips (designed like a SAN disk) for upgrades and add on modules. Think, others could write software for it! Sort of like what game developers do, could create an awesome amount of flexibility. Mailing your detector in is a bit much, especially from overseas.
8. I'm worried the pull
trigger may break, make a more durable one. When you are holding the detector one might pull a bit too hard, especially if you are trying to push the head into the grass (you lose feel for the pressure you are applying).
9.
New head cord design. Run the detecting head cord through the handle and make it so that you can just "plug in" a new head (like with next to no rod attached).
10.
Clock function and time spent detecting would be cool. Could have a running total of time spent detecting, interesting option for those selling/buying machines...
11. GPS for those advanced hunters.
12. Some form of
target memory function to note what the target read in the ground. It could store the last 10 targets dug. So, before you dig you just press a button while pinpointing and walla. (only if you want, so complexity is kept low) Cool!

Maybe you could program it then to
ID (according to your program) you what it might be your digging??? So e.g. a 67-73 ID for me is a 40's Deutsches Reich.
13. Water bottle holder (ok, I'm kidding, but I added one to my T2 to give it that serious look).
14. Swing counter, I mean bikes have mile counters. So, one could say, "I did 1000 swings yesterday, you?" (kidding)
15.
Getting to all metal mode with a button instead of going through the disc menu back up to top. (I'd use it more, as I don't generally hunt in it, but investigate) Have the fade rate adjustable, could be like a pinpoint/investigate sort of.
How about a machine that is just not great, but groundbreaking in another, no so typical fashion, but very very usable. Like what Apple computers did for computing or Linux is doing more and more of.
