What Is The Advantage Of Non-Motion Detecting?

I have a GTI 2500 and it has non-motion in the all metal mode. Also non-motion is used in other Garrett detectors in the pinpoint mode. I can understand using non-motion in determining the target size but how does it help with other operations?

It will help identify a target in a tight area, where you can't swing the coil back and forth. Also, it is preferred when using a sniper coil searching for small nuggets in a rocky stream or crevices along solid rock, again, in tight areas. Someone with shoulder issues will find a detector which you don't have to swing a coil back and forth a real benefit.

Thank you John for your response. Around here in Salt Lake City, gold is something that comes out of the ground as rings and other things but I can see how it would be useful as you suggest. Thank you again.
