What Is The Subject?

C. Nyal de Kaye

New member
At the risk of mildly offending someone, which is not my intention at all, I want to ask a question: Why do so many start to write their comments in the SUBJECT line.

This is quite irritating when you are trying to follow a subject. When the email arrives telling of an addition to something you are trying to follow, you have no idea what subject the email refers to.

I am on a number of Forums internationally, on detecting and other matters, and none of them write comments in the subject line. In every case, except for this Forum, you can always immediately see what the real subject is.

So dear friends, how about sticking to the SUBJECT!

Please don't be offended anyone, I just think that it will make this Forum better.

What do you think?

No offense taken, but maybe your making more than what it is, i have no problem with how I read or write it, maybe its toward me or others I don't know, but as long as the Moderator is cool on what I write and how I write it no worries from me, I have to many things to worry about than stories in the subject line! I'm not a english major I'm just a guy who likes metal detecting and chatting with friends on here. HHH

It's not aimed at anyone in particular Hank, and I'm sure you're right that I'm "making it more than it is".

Maybe I'm in one of those moods today! I probably am, sorry.

No worries from here! Just cash in some the gold nuggets and share the money with us! Lol! J/K!

Hey C. Nyal de Kaye,
To some extent, I agree with you. There have been times when it may have been more interesting if everyone did stick to the subject being discussed. But then again......

Not sure I understand. I usually write in that line so that one knows who I am replying to. Too often people read through a string and leave a message to a particular person, but you don't know that unless you go back and read all of them.
Many times when someone starts a subject, not all of the replies are to the one who started the subject. Plus a short reply in the subject line like ( WTG STEVE ) makes it so he does not have to open each and every reply.
No offense taken here. God bless.

Mike

Thanks for your comments Mike, they give me a bit of a different understanding of the matter.

I just find it confusing, that's all.

I've got quite a few gold nuggets kicking about here. I don't know how to decide which ones I should send you.

I'll think about it for a decade or two and then send them on.

Send me the two biggest ones!:lmfao:

Haha,I'll be waiting !lol!

is because most like reading without opening up the posts and since most don't open and read mine...I want people to know about Jesus and the goodness of God, so post as much as I can using the subject line! I don't have any problem following the Subject of the threads....but different forums like different ways....will try to post underneath the subject line but Ma is forgetful and starts on it and then continues sometimes if what I have to say isn't too long! No offense on my part...but guess I either offend on the CMD or on the Friend's and Find's Forum....I try to post underneath the post I am trying to comment to...but I see some don't so is confusing at times! May God Bless you and yours! Amen! Ma Betty

What you say makes eminent sense Ma Betty, except that I do open and read your posts especially!

I don't know now why I started this thread.

Must have been in one of those difficult moods, I suppose.

post under the post they want to comment to and not above because it does make it difficult to whom they are answering! Hey, I would like some of those "Gold Nuggets", too! Never found one of those! Hope you and wifey find lots more! Ma Bety

I must be missing something I see the subject line and the rest of the post every time I click on the main post from cmd forum. Maybe my internet is set of different.
