What is the writing "black nugget coal" on a hammer?

I have this old hammer, hard to see, but has "HARD NUGGET COAL" written on the metal?
thanks for any information, it's about 1.5 size of a normal claw hammer.

Also on guess on its date? thanks again

Is it hard nugget or black nugget?
Does the writting look to be original to the hammer or put there later by the owner?
Do you mean its 1.5 times bigger than a normal hammer?
Hammers come many sizes graded by weight in ozs. or lbs., measurements would help.

It weighs 1.5 pounds, the writing appears stamped into metal "BLACK NUGGET COAL" that's all I know about it, it looks like it would be easy to restore, has only a light coat of rust and handle wood is ok.

I guess some one with tools could tap that inscription but looks like came with hammer? thanks again

Maybe a Mine owned hammer... Lot's of tools were stamped and kept in cribs and loaned to workers for their tokens and then returned....

Maybe a "Black Nugget" coal mine search....

Anyways where did you find it and check out the above sites and their proximity to you..

Since its a bigger hammer ma well be what they needed in a mine to shore up timber supports...
