What is this thing?

Found this today in a old yard. Its iron. There are no threads in the holes. The holes are about the size of a dime. Never saw anything like it.

I believe what you have there is a wire cable connector.
It probably had a U bolt that went through the holes and it looks like the channel has ridges to keep the cable from slipping out when pulled.

thats it two bolt connector female end you have another one fits on top and has two bolts that go through its called a "99"
