What is up with this quarter??

Lakota

New member
Was going through last weeks finds, cleaning the coins and had a real crusted over Washington quarter ( 1966) and even after tumbling it wasn't cleaned up nice like the other. So being stubborn I went after it with some polish and a soft rag, well here is the weird thing , it looks like silver (?) Was splattered on the face of it.

Anyone ran across this type of thing before? Natural occuring issue? Man made you think?

Might have been tossed in a fire with a bunch of aluminum cans? I aint never seen nothing like that before, but I guess thats a big part of this crazy sport...we get to see things nobody aint never seen before... a LOT!

" A LOT" Brother you ain't lying there!

Good guess on the aluminum, came from football field. Same field that has given up numerous silvers in the last two years.

Lakota I think it is fairy droppings? I think if you lick it, it will turn gold? :bouncy: I think I am right about that, maybe? You do know that you have to be a little weird to really enjoy this hobby. :clapping: ..Z

Steve it did have some on the eagle but not near as much as the front did.

Zee I tell you what brother , you lick the coin and let me know how the fairy dropping taste test works out for you  hahaha

Of the hundreds of dollars in clad I have found this one is a first.

Lakota sorry been there and done that. Fairy droppings kind of taste like rhino sweat. Last time I had a teaspoon of rhino sweat I laid on the floor for two days and couldn't move. Not even my eye balls would move. But when I did get up I had a heck of a time trying to tell the doctors (for 2 weeks) what I had seen and were I had been. ....Z

Some kid in workshop class was playing around with solder. ???????

I think it's the little clad quarter that couldn't (become silver).... :drinking: Close to a '64', but not quite there.....
