i wear foam flip flops. float in the water if they fall off, their light, and their cheap. or i woul suggest crocs. they have camo ones of those!:cheers:

Dive booties. I am upgrading to these ASAP. Protect your feet...they will thank you. A foot injury will put you otua commission and at risk to MRSA.

Anyone else get skunked today? Other guy I saw at beach landed a diamond band, white gold. Nice find. I got 45 cents and about 30 bottle tops. Bah.

The high top type of dive boots. They keep the sand out pretty well and give a sure footed push on the scoop when the waves are moving things around. I wear short socks for scuff protection of the toes and a gel heal cup for more cushion. My feet stay happy with that set up.

I use the NRS attack water shoe. A little pricey but they keep the sand out and they work great. They have cheaper shoes too.

I have had some questionable issues on some of their items and they just took care of it, that is worth a TON! You can't possibly go wrong using this company for their gloves, headgear, wetsuits, dry suits, shoes and booty liners. I'm working on switching over my entire apparel line to NRS.
 
I wear the heavier dive boots,and tall as I can get to guard against the stingrays, I've been hit by them and the boot took the damage from the barb,not my foot. Gene
 
The dive boots keep a lot of the sand out, not all. I got rid of the rubbing and blisters when I put short socks on. Wool is good, synthetics not bad, don't do cotton. I added heal gel cushion because I was getting (according to the doctor) a typical age related heel injury. Cushion does two things that help: raise heel level a little in the other wise pretty flat boot so weight is split better between ball and heel (1/8 to 1/4 inch does make a difference), and it adds cushion.

OK an edit ... short boots don't do so well keeping sand out. Higher boots that fit snug at the upper closure do the trick pretty well.
 
I have minimal issues with sand getting into the shoes, but here is how I layer. I wear these pants http://www.nrsweb.com/shop/product.asp?pfid=2549&pdeptid=1152

What this layering does for you, is to create a layer of protection against sea lice and some jellyfish(maybe not Box or Man-O-War), keeps the sand out of your feet and helps with blistering, abrasions and cuts. The pants are thin enough to wear in the summer without being too heavy too. I'm TRYING to talk NRS into making a black long sleeve out of the same material as the pant. WAITING! In the meantime I'm wearing a Slippery When Wet jet ski rash shirt.
 
For wadeing I wear thick dive boots as well, great protection for the feet and ankle, plus I can slip on the dive fins and stick to the bottom like a crab, if I want to hunt the deeper water like the sides of channels.

I am with Gene on this one. I wear the boots 3 to 4 inches above the ankle. Yes they do get some dirt in but usually on very rough days. Normally it is minimal and does not create any issues. I have tried all the above except the weird looking and I did get blister with all the above and do not with dive boots.
