What kind of depth do you get coin hunting?

i've been looking at one of these for quite some time and wondering about depth and how do you guys like them really to prospect with?

I never found many coins deeper than bout 12 - 13 Inches, they probly go deeper in damp soil if there was coins there, my deepest finds are in farm fields where houses were in the 1800's or so, but usually dry ground when i am there.

ok well i've never found any coin more than 10" but are you claiming depth with the scorpion just make it clear thats all?

I've only been out a few times. I've never dug below about 4" - its just too hard to find anything down deep.

I use the Scorpion primarily for nugget shooting/electronic prospecting. I don't typically use it for coin shooting, but I have, occasionally. Regarding depth for coin shooting with the stock 5"x10"DD search coil using Disc Mode with discrimination high enough to knock out iron junk, but keep pull tabs(in order to find rings/jewelry)I would say that I have found coins usually to a depth of around nine inches.
Now if using All Metal Mode as would be done while prospecting I find coin sized targets, coins and trash metal targets at over one foot deep. Larger items can be incredibly deep. I've dug larger pieces of iron while in All Metal Mode at well over two feet deep(old rusty pieces of pipe and various different whatzits).
I really like the Scorpion for nugget shooting. It's the machine that I first started seriously electronic prospecting with back in the early nineties. I've used various other brands and models of metal detectors that are designed for finding gold nuggets. I always come back to the Scorpion because I really like some of the features that it has which other metal detectors lack. For instance, the TR Mode is awesome for rejecting/identifying hot rocks. It's also great for checking ore samples.
I use the Infinium LS in areas that are known for larger deeper gold nuggets. The Scorpion is great for looking for smaller nuggets and/or black sand deposits.

Metalhead, these are the settings you would reccomend for coin shooting then? I got a Scorp last year but only used it for about a month. Planning to get back to it in a day or so. Motion Disc mode with discrimination somewhere around 7 or above? Thanks...
