What to dig

I am a new owner of the T2se and love it. I have found silver and relics with it in the two hunts I have done. However I have a question for you experienced T2ers. I have the feeling that I am failing to dig up some good signals. I find I mark a lot of targets in the 50 through the 60 range. I know that a nickle rings in the 58 range and do dig every one of them. I don't dig many 60 Tids because they are usually in the pull tab range. However I know that trash near a good target can change the reading of the target.so I am passing good items up. What ranges do you dig that are not in the coin range or nickle range. Any help would be appreciated. What is taking me a little time getting used to is the TIDs are much higher for a given coin then my F70 was. Maybe I should dig the sounds only and not pay much attention to the Tid that is being indicated on my detector. I use 2+, BP and 4 tones mostly for my tones and 70 to 75 sensitivity and 10 to 15 Disc. Thanks in advance.

I think you may have answered your own question at the end, but it really depends on what you are searching for. If you are interested in only finding modern type of US coins, there is no need to dig the 60's, but once you get into the older, odd denomination US coins, things change. A silver trime (three cent piece) may fall right into that range. Half dimes, Spanish half reale coins may as well. If I remember correctly, the 1800 half reale I dug last weekend was right in the high 60's. Gold jewelry can fall anywhere from the mid 40's to the coin range. Many tombac and pewter buttons fall below 50. If these are desirable targets for you I recommend digging it all! This may not be practical at some sites, so you may have to play the odds if the site is littered with pull tabs.

One thing I like about bP (Boost)/ 2+ tones is that the tones are related to depth, not TID, which forces me to examine every signal a bit more closely.

I hope this helps.

PS: Deeply buried coins have TID numbers that are grossly inaccurate, so it is possible to get a jumpy tone with a TID in the 60's and dig a silver dime.

I can only speak from being a T2 user over here in the UK but we tend to dig everything over 40 if its a solid signel but if it bounces from say 90-40 then its left in the ground as that is odds on favourite to be iron and the most popular option is 2+ as that will give you a good audio signal of what the target is likely to be then most of us then check the screen to see what the TID is.

The reason we dig everything is our silver coins can come in as the same as what silver foil does and of course our old silver coinage comes in various grades of silver so this is one example of why we tend to dig overthing over 40.

There are some older posts on here where people give their experiences on rooting out the junk. Might be worth the hunt.
