What to do with the findings.

What all do you with your findings. For sliver and gold coins do you sell, if so how?. For gold and silver rings do you sell, if so how.

I haven't sold a single item I have found since I started, way too much work involved to find them. I make displays. My intention is to pass them all to my son someday. My collection should carry some decent value by then...........well providing I last awhile. I am only 37, but you never know, .....no promise of tomorrow

My clad go's into a empty water jug. It get cashed in once a year. Silver coins go into card sleeves and put into a binder. Gold jewelry that i find i save until i have a good amount. That gets sent to a refinery in TX. The gold "and one Plat ring,,avatar lol" brought in almost 3k. Clad was a couple of hundred "half pocket change other half finds".

U use my clad to buy more equipment silver stays junk gold goes to be melted down unless my wife wants it

Hi Toby,

I have cashed in modern coins at the bank...thats what got me the Etrac and a holiday.

I have sold plain gold rings and earrings and kept the nicer ones and the ones with gemstones in them.
Sold it by registered & insured post to a pro buyer and got a great price (just 5% under spot price), ...I was recommended to this buyer by a fellow m.d.
the buyer views the gold items and assesses their value, phoned me with the prices and if agreed sends a bankcheque (or deposits into your bank a/c)
If not agreed the buyer sends the items back reg. post.

I collect and keep all the older coins and relics.
I have traced and returned 2 silver medals ( 1 war medal ) with id inscribed into them.
I have stacks of silver rings in a container silvers not worth too much...dont know where they will go.
I collect all my aluminum, lead, copper and brass to go to recycling.

I've pretty much kept my stuff. Like Terry said, you work pretty hard for it. Clad goes in a bucket to be cleaned someday. Other will get put in a display this winter...hopefully. Lately, if I hunt people's yards (especially good aquaintances) I've been letting them have the finds. Some of them say nope, nice to see it, but don't really want it.

Glad to hear someone say they never get rid of anything. I wish I could say that. I started in this hobby in 1968 and I found more then my share of silver coins and gold rings. I was always needing extra cash in those days having a young family so many of my finds got sold off and I sure regret it today.

My father-in-law was my hunting buddy back then and he like you never sold anything he found, when he passed away 5 years ago my son purchased his whole collection. There's so much more there then silver or gold value, you can't buy or sale memories.

The silver & gold finds are much harder to come by these days, and my son is now my hunting buddy.

Keep up that attitude.

You can donate the coins that you don't want, like the Memorials.

I tumble all the clad with distilled vinegar and stones for 3 days - come out looking like pocket change. Just recently got $352 from the bank for a large jar full.

I spend all my clad at the Liquor Store buying Canadian Lord Calvert for my MD buddy Benny Hudson in Georgia

I do turn in all the clad, but I really don't dig much clad because I mainly hunt old farms. I also keep a bucket to separate out junk brass and copper pieces, this I turn in at the end of the yr to the scrap yard. But all old coins, jewelry, buttons, tokens, relics etc.....I keep. I have a separate room I display stuff in, adding to it more and more

I to have never sold a thing and never have planned on it. I had a guy make me a small to med sized Pirates chest and lined it with like velvet material and I save all my coins/jewelery and anything nice in there :) I to plan on passing it down to my kids :) glad to see I'm not the only one :)

I take all my clad which like you doesn't amount to much and I go to the flea market and there is a coin dealer and I trade all my clad in for gold coins. After going through all my clad making sure there is nothing of value I put it all in a rock tumbler and clean it up and trade it in on gold :)

I have traded all my clad for older silver coins. I try to get ones that I don't dig much of like seated or capped bust
