What to expect to pay for New (?) Fisher

dbax

New member
I see the Fisher F75 posted on #%$^#& at a great price, considering it has the 11"DD attached -- $949 Prime (if you are a Prime member it means free shipping) The F75 Special LTD, is $1099 -- these are very competitive prices from what I have seen
The F70 is priced at the Prime - $649 but minus the 11" coil -- come with the 10" Concentric. I think the 11" DD as an extra coil is $149, at least that is what it cost to get on for the F2 and F4 Fishers. I have seen the F70 with the 11" DD as an optional replacement for the 10" for an extra $49, so this would make the F70, from a different dealer, priced at around $700/shipping? Don't see too many, if any, used models for sale and this seems to be true for the whole Fisher line too.

This is not an ad for anyone, just some info for those that keep asking about these detectors and even the owners -- I could care less were anyone buys their machines. I paid around $580 for my F70 with the DD coil -- had to send this unit into Fisher after two months of use -- (a second??) -- so I will not tell you who I bought it from, may not have been their fault at all? Fisher was very helpful -- my machine was chattering constant, just could not quiet it down. After many infield conversations with the Fisher Tech he said to send it in, about a week later they sent it back to me with a brand new 11"DD attached and they opened up the F70 case and replaced the battery compartment and springs? When I got this baby back it was a whole new experience, and setting up Mudpuppy's advise settings, this time, produced a fantastic run for the last 8 months of 2013 :clapping:

Ah, yes Marketing! I'll give this a go, seeing hows there 8' of snow outside and all..A plucky mfg would take everything into account when setting a product price point, You gotta know what you got into production costs, R&D, SE&A, competitor features and work from there. Suffice it to say brand name, warrantee, market buzz in the industry is super important. Then a guy has got to know and understand demographics and the target consumer's buying habits and justification right down to their very core! A plucky mfg should also understand the power of customer service, and how a warrantee "problem" should be treated as an opportunity to grow sales! Only if handled right though...Its gotta be thought out very strategically, implemented rollout flawless, backed with commitment and freedom for the inside service folks to make the go-forward call...

Funny though, marketing/support...specific unit has to perform better than advertised and give immediate results.."Id rather explain my price than apologize for my quality" is what we say...If a mfg can turn their customer base into their best sales force, then they have don it right. Really basic blocking and tackling, but there are a lot of mfgs that dont get this at all...Luckily for us, Fisher does...

In the end, whats price in the over-all scheme of things? Its nothing but a starting point to ascertain the prospective clients VALUE in the long run...theres some clients you dont need or want! They are too much trouble and you would be best served if they went elsewhere anyway...some of these pantloads suck the life and resources right out of you! Let them waste the time and resources out of the competition!...that has a great value in and of itself and should be duly noted on a product rollout! Lots more to it than this, but you know....we all have our own format for justifying a spend, mine is how fast can I pay for this thing, and do you have my back when I need help? Ideas?

You got that right, Mud!! You should go into Marketing!

Not surprised that my self appointed guru Mud :please:is either a marketing agent or a teacher of economics, or just a plain old genius -- but what I want to know, and other may be interested in is where are those F70 and F75 everyone is tired of -- who is selling the seconds? As anyone in marketing knows, there are always seconds but strangely, they seem to be absent in the Fisher line?

Mud, you are a genius! I gotta agree some bussiness just isn't worth having, because as you said, they will suck the resources right out of you. I never thought of a customer service problem as a way to grow bussiness, but that sure makes sense. From what I have read on the forums it seems Garrett, Tesoro, Whites, and Fisher all have excellent custormer service. Minelab seems to be hit and miss and in no hurry to get the detector back to you. Don't know this first hand, just have read it a lot.

Dbax, I have never seen any major detector manufacturer sell seconds, and I don't think it would sit well for their reputation. I have seen a few dealers sell a refurb though.

Hey, mud. When you get a call from Mike Scott asking for your help with some marketing issues, ask him when the next new Fisher/Tek is rolling out. Thanks, HH jim tn

Rainy day, I see your point, they either fix them or issue an new one, and trash what's left, but still, where are the "second hand" choices, say someone moving up to an F75 and has a used F70 at a reasonable price? Just wondering, in my roaming about I have only heard of a couple of guys having bought a second hand -- seems these Fishers are real keepers. Or, is it possible the dealers have some kind of restraint on them, maybe they have second they can sell at store level only, not advertised and not for sale on the internet? Just wondering -- you would think there would be a ton of F2 and F4 machines, slightly used, on ebay ? :goodnight:
