What to hunt with what frequency?

Idaho-Marke

New member
I coin shoot in highly mineralized soil most of the time. I would also like to nugget shoot at Rye Patch and other gold fields.

I like a smaller coil for coinshooting.

Please advise which coils & frequencies I should consider if I purchase an X70.

Thank you in advance.

If you are hunting in highly mineralized ground, you will get better results with the DD coils. As to size and shape, that is a matter of personal preference. For extreme target separation, the 6-inch DD at 18.75 kHz is excellent. For gold prospecting, you will find many posts on this forum that tout the performance of the 6 X 10 Elliptical DD at 18.75 kHz. For coin hunting open fields, you will have a tough time beating the 10.5-inch DD coils in either 7.5 kHz or 18.75 kHz. If I were making the decision between these last two, I would chose the 7.5 khz as the other two coils mentioned are both only available at 18.75 kHz. And you would already have two at that frequency. For the record, the 3 kHz coil only comes in a 9-inch concentric. Based on what you stated about your mineralization, I wouldn't recommend a concentric design. JMHO HH Randy
