what were the USA compaines thinking??????

I would think Fisher (and I really have loved their past products) may have a design that is ready to unleash but because of the Deus and how well it is selling in the USA, may know they just can't design a newer unit that fast. I think we will see copycats coming out with products but without the design that will really make it a great unit. If they go wireless will it be as well built and work as great as the Deus? Will it have a ton a bugs, will it be worth the money when the deus seems to almost do it all for now and is getting better with software updates. Can they really come out with a unit that won't have people thinking they copied the Deus. And even though that should be the way a flagship detector is designed today, will it really be better then the Deus or just claim it is with hype?

I think a lot of the USA companies have just took a big step backwards and it will take years to catch up. They just wouldn't listen to us...who are we anyway just the people that use them and spend our cash to but them. They underestimated the Euro Market, just the same way we did with cars when Japan flooded our Country with a whole different kind of car. And how about if the Deus has a little brother that cost less. And what if they can look at pulse and find a way through a new controller to add to what we have. Yeah we may have to pay a few hundred bucks but not having to buy a new machine seems a cool way to grow a business. I wonder if the French are thinking they can do so much with this machine that there is no end to the upgrades....and improvements

I like the ideal of Adding an option to change to a pulse machine from vlf or multi freq, with the click of a button. Imagine pulse, vlf, fbs .....click one button and scan your target with a diffrent type of tech..Thats the next big thing i think...Deus could do it..Hopefully one of the US companies will jump on it.Basically we should all be using our smart phone with an app...And the telescopping shaft/coil.Buy the app for whatever phone and Bam! insta Deus..Another 10 years someone will be doing it if not sooner.

For a while, I have thought a smartphone app for detectors would be a next step. All you would need are the coils and a shaft to swing it from. Imagine every detector company going to smartphone apps and using the same coil technology. A person could have multiple detectors right from their smartphone. Never happen because it means less profit for them.

The Deus is like a smartphone in size and unlike the Iphone where every year they make a new phone for more money Deus does it for free. I think they way they think is update the machine and make great imporvements for free sell a lot in the USA and across the pond and then at some point add a new control box and charge for it...way better then buying a new detector

White's and the V3i are right there. They may not be completely wireless, yet, but there is a price to pay. That price would be $500 for a different coil on the Deus compared to $150 on the V3i.

Yeah but the Deus is light years ahead of whites

And the last time you swung a V3i was......

It has features that the Deus seems to have copied....like the Vector display and it shows it in all three frequencies at the same time in color...and it's much easier to call up. If they could get the response speed up and the processing of target data faster it would be every bit as good as the Deus. It's certainly very flexible. Don't count Whites out yet.

Didn't mean to pounce on whites I had one a few years ago and then got my freinds to use for a few months and the deus and whites are light years apart. I have tried both detectors on the same ground same area same time of year and in our Calif ground the Deus is gold..just my feelings..sorry

No offense taken...you mentioned you owned and have used Whites but didn't say which model. I realize this is the XP Deus forum and I think it only fair to say I own a Deus with both coils...it's a great machine and while I like it and am still learning to decipher its sounds I haven't felt the need to run off and sell my other detectors just yet.

I also have the Whites V3i, Garrett AT Pro and a Fisher CZ5. I love all of them and want to pick up an Etrac or CTX at some point. So far I can't say that anything I have found with my Deus I wouldn't have found with any of my other detectors had I been using them at the time. A lot of that is probably me. At this point the winner in the silver and gold finds count go to the AT Pro. Oldest coin goes to the Deus...1919s penny. Fun factor goes to the Deus and V3i.

Would love to see a multi frequency coil so it can run better in the wet, salt sand. V3i trumps it in that category, simply for the fact it can run in multi frequency mode. Deus does to a good job, but depth is lacking compared to the multi frequency units in that respect. It is still killer in the dry sand, and in hard packed wet sand areas loaded with iron. As far as any other category (except obviously under water), it is a hard detector to beat, overall.

The wireless, light weight, super fast recovery, tones, options, etc.make it a super, super unit that will always be a part of the arsenal.

I had the V3 twice in my soil it never preformed I have the G2 and the At Gold and the Deus the Dues is by far the best in iron and at grass parks. The V3 was hit and miss some programs worked at one park and at another I couldn't program it to preform. The At Gold and the G2 are turn on and go with no big problems but the Deus can be tweeked and I seem to go beyond all the detectors I have had...maybe it just loves being in the gold country of Calif

Having owned and used many of the top rated detectors I can say, at least in my opinion, that they all are very close in ability when configured properly. The key being configured properly. The Deus is not light years ahead of the V3i. In fact the only reason I chose the Deus over the others is weight. Nothing else. Fact is the Minelab E-Trac/CTX differ from the Deus and V3i only in that they are much more forgiving when setup. They are quick to give the user depth without having to spend time adjusting it to your area. Once you have tuned the V3i or Deus to your area they do just as well if not better.

I see the E-Trac and CTX as the ACE 250 of the top of the line. It is the better out of the box deep coin machine. They can have you pulling that deep stuff with little more than learning the tones. The V3i and Deus take a bit more understanding to get the same depth. That is why you generally won't see any posts about the new E-Trac/CTX user saying "It just keeps getting better" like you do with the V3i and Deus. You can make adjustments that will improve you hunting with the E-Trac/CTX but you really won't gain much depth. It may just be my soil but I've never gained any depth by using manual sensitivity over Auto +3. With the V3i and Dues as the user learns the machine it gets better and better.

That could be. The Deus is superior for low the conductive targets and hard to beat for finding gold and nickels. I believe the MineLab land machines always did have a tough time with gold.

It not about depth when hunting in iron for relics...In a clean area I would also take a deus over the V3. In my ground the V3 never gave the kind of depth the Deus gives and in iron it was a waste of time with all the programs I tried and even getting some other hunters witht the V3 helping me out I could not even match the G2.

"They just wouldn't listen to us."

True, and it's maddening. I prefer to buy American made, but the American companies need to listen to what their customers want. I've been asking the Garrett people why they won't make a waterproof model of their pro-pointer. No encouraging replies. Instead, eveyone using their current model (including me - I have 3) are forced to void the warranty and gob 'em up with silicone caulking to make them waterproof. It's ridiculous. They can make a waterproof detector but don't have enough marketing savvy to make a waterproof pro-pointer to complement it? It would sell like hotcakes. Very short-sighted if you ask me.

DEUS has stepped light years ahead with the weight and telescoping rod, not to mention the wireless features and different frequencies. Fisher, Garrett, White's, Minelab - you better look in your rear view mirror.

It would be helpful to me for you to expound on the ergonomics and faults issues with said detector. Besides its weight and the known issues with the o-ring seal on the battery I've heard nothing but positive. I don't own one but want to in the future. As far as ergonomics there seems to be no standard for control/display layout so I guess every detector manufacturer could be accused of that one.

I have a long list on my computer. I'm on my cell phone and can't get to it at this time. I'm headed out of town tomorrow but will be back later in the day.

Please don't take the things I am saying wrong. I'm not here to bash any models or companys. On the other hand I had Whites V3i and found that it didn't do what I wanted. I got frustrated, not with the unit but not finding anything.
Bought the Deus and went back over areas that I did with the V3i and found more. My uncle said that Whites is the best. Well if they are they better play catch up. The reason that I went with the Deus is because the ease of the unit.
Would I buy US. made detectors? Sure but they will have to out do Deus and I don't think that their going to do that. At least for right now. I think that for dollar to dollar you can't beat the Deus! I hope that the competition that XP has
created will bring out new technology and other companies will fallow.

I have CTX and absolutely love the detector, zero problems in my first year of ownership, my only complaint is the weight is tough for me after a few hours. I want the Deus to have another tool in my arsenal for the long days of detecting and very trashy areas. I think both detectors will be a compliment to each other. I am looking forward to my Deus purchase, but have also decided that I want to keep my CTX. I do very well in the Finds department with it, it is I just wear out quickly with it. If after I learn the Deus I find no need for two detectors I will sell it, but from what I have seen they each have some very good strengths.
