What/Who are Frat Brothers coil?

Is this an aftermarket company that makes coils for the Tek and Fisher detectors or is it just a catch name that people are using for some specially designed Tek or Fisher coil?

Thanks

Beachcomber

It is my assumption that the name refers to the Greek series coils that can be fitted to the Teknetics Alpha, Gamma, Delta and Omega and are made by Teknetics/Fisher, ie First Texas.

So if they are an aftermarket manufacturer do they have a website where you can go to see what coils they have available and what detectors they work with. Guess I should have been following Fisher and Teknetics as closely as I follow Minelab developments :) It seems like Minelab is going down the tubes these days while Tek and Fisher are taking over.

Thanks

I would not class Teknetics as an aftermarket manufacturer as they actually make the detectors.

You can go to the Teknetics website to find out which accessory coils work with Teknetics models.

You can go to the Fishers website to find out which accessory coils work with Fishers models.

Macedonian is correct. First Texas/Teknetics is the (re)source for anything "Frat Boy" related.

When you look up the Goldbug SE, I don't see anywhere that says the Omega 8000 11 inch coil works with the Goldbug SE? Why is that? Yet it is recommended for the Goldbug SE??

Before the GB SE was released dealers were listing an optional 11" coil for it and guess what it turned out to be the Greek series coil, I just don't think they advertise things like machines sharing the same coil or perhaps they just have not caught up to the fact we know yet so the message will be that the GB has an accessory 11" coil and so does the Greek series.

On another sidenote I do not know where the name "Frat Brothers coil" originated was this just a manufacturers inside name for them ?
