What will a platinum ring register on an F2?

A friend of mine lost his platinum wedding ring and has asked for some assistance. He was unloading brush when it came off. Problem is the place is a dump site so I am sure it will be loaded with trash. He said there were some old metal drums and a junk lawn mower back there. Once he gets that moved and chops some of the weeds I am going to go take a look. I will probably use the 4 inch coil. Any idea what number it would likely ring up?

You gotta go look, since he is a friend and all...I THINK plat falls in the gold signal range, I say think because I've not found one yet, but have read enough of these posts to prepare for the event. So you are looking for what sounds like a pulltab in a dump area...dang, thats tough duty there...well, you'll either find it, or not, so good luck and let us know!

I had a member on another forum who has found some platinum rings and he said they rang up a 73.

i have never found one but all the post ive read about platnum there saying foil range, should depend on how big it is the larger the ring the higher the tid will be good luck

I believe that most of the time it will register Libertarian.

Plat will ID size for size very close to gold.
A small Lady's could be foil and a large mans could be penny , dime or higher.

No idea on plat rings myself, but one suggestion on hunting lost items.

Don't let him do anything there before you get to the spot. Been on a couple hunts where the ring loser did too much and there was no hope of recovery despite multiple attempts.

Yes, it's a dump area with litter, but if the ring is in recent dump material it has not settled any deeper. Any movement through the area and the ring could slip down in the material, dependent on what the material is, and be lost forever.

Be there with the machine and delayer the area where he dumped his material slowly and meticulously.

From a lot of searching for lost jewelry as my local dealer always calls me when a customer comes in to rent a detector and doesn't find basically find out the approximate size and you probably won't find it where they say they lost it so may have to search a large area...Platinum can come in all over the meter spectrum but usually a little lower than a gold one of similiar size..Just remember even if recently lost if some steps on it it won't be visable eye balling and most scour the area ahead of time and usually step on it..If lost in a yard don't have they owner mow the lawn until you search...Good luck in your search and certainly doable but may take some time...
