What cutting edge technology does the government have, that could be used by consumers if cost was not a factor, to increase the depth and identification of items?
If you were going to build the MD, what would it be like? I personally think the DEUS 2 with the wireless remote would be a criteria for me, along with full integration with a computer so you can save your programs. Also, a "Stop" on the extensions so they don't fall out when you extend your shaft.
How about a "Robotic" MD, kinda like those automated law mowers / carpet cleaners? It could scan a whole area, mark ( with paint/chalk) where items are, then you come back 3 hours later and dig?
